Finally Raffy performed well and pulled off two 65% tests to place 4th and 8th at his second competition at Caboolture Dressage Group. With comments of a good natural canter and clear walk. We even had a judges comment of calmly ridden test. We have been struggling at the last few competitions with him getting eliminated in his first novice test. So to come out and do this well in both tests was a huge achievement and reassuring we can do it.

Building on our River Restoration work with ReForest Now, today marks the start of our EnviroGrants-supported phase at Coolabah. Cedar Grove Landcare completed their first site visit, turning plans into on-ground action along our waterway. Big thanks to Logan City Council’s EnviroGrants program for backing this next chapter. I’m incredibly honoured to receive the EnviroGrants 2025 award from Logan City Council for my project in On-Ground Ecosystem Restoration – River Restoration. 💧🌱
This grant will help bring vital support to restoring our local waterways and protecting the ecosystems that thrive around them. Huge thanks to Logan City Council, Cr Scott Bannan, and Darren Scott for championing environmental initiatives like this one.

It’s been a big few weeks with competitions for Rafael. His first competition was at PRARG and we pulled off a PB score of 71.25% from Maria Schwennesen in the Preliminary 1.2 for 2nd place. The judges comment was “A confident ride and a horse with expressive paces. Shows the results of correct training”.

Then we were very brave and headed up to Caboolture for his first big float trip and away competition. He was unsettled in his first test and was terrified of the arenas and unfortunately exited at A but the judge let us work through the rest of the test as training and I managed to steer him through it and everyone cheered us on when we halted.

The second test he held it together to score 62.917% with one costly resistance at A again. But I pushed him through it and went on to score a coefficient 7 for the next movement of free walk.

Big thanks to my long time coach Emma Flegman for pushing me out of my comfort zone and getting us to these competitions.

Also thanks to The Saddlefitter for fitting Rafael with his Sankey Delux saddle it definitely gives me a deeper seat and more confidence to ride this expressive horse.

What an unforgettable couple of competitions over PRARGs Summer Series! 🏆🎉

I’m so thrilled to share that our two home-bred stars have achieved incredible results over two events!

Dixieland Gold (Don Gold/TB) took out Champion Novice Horse with a fantastic 71.154% and a new PB! She placed 1st in both tests. Cracking the elusive 70% mark has been a dream come true, made even sweeter with inspiring judge comments and several 8s. A huge thank you to Advanced Equine Vets for sponsoring the Champion title—it means the world to us!

Not to be outdone, Rafael (Fairbanks Rusty/TB) claimed Reserve Champion Novice Horse, earning an impressive 69.615% and a PB for Novice! He placed 2nd & 3rd is his two tests. Big thanks to Equus Performance Services for supporting the Reserve Champion award—we’re so grateful for your support.

Seeing both horses achieve such incredible results over two competitions has been a whirlwind of joy and pride.

A massive thank you to everyone who’s been part of this journey. These moments make all the hard work and dedication so worthwhile. Onwards and upwards for these two stars! 🌟🐴

Dixieland Gold (Don Gold/TB) took out 1st Place with 71.154% and a new PB. Cracking the 70% score is a dream come true. Some very inspiring comments from the judge and a number of 8s. It’s so much more special when it’s a homebred horse. Also first video taken and submitted.

Dixie was a star yesterday doing her first two novice tests at a competition. She was a little tense in her first test and scored 65.385% placing 3rd. Her second test she really settled in well and we were very pleased with and came 2nd (see video). Anyone who knows Dixie will know she isn’t any easy horse to get to perform like this and it has been a long road to get here as she can be a very stubborn mare. Thank you everyone who is helping us along the journey.
