The scale can really get in your head when you’re working towards a goal, especially when you feel like you’re doing everything right and that number isn’t moving the way you expected.

But there is SO much happening outside of that number that matters.

You’re getting stronger, your clothes are fitting differently, you have more energy, you’re enjoying meals out without feeling guilty, you’re staying consistent with your training and starting to feel more confident in yourself.

These are all wins!! ❤️‍🔥

The scale is still useful and yes, I track it with my clients, but it’s only one part of the bigger picture.

Pay attention to everything else that’s changing too! You might be making a lot more progress than you realise 💪🏼

I hate to be the one to tell you this… but you might not need to lose more weight 👀

If your goal is to look toned, defined and have more shape then constantly trying to make the number on the scales smaller might actually be keeping you stuck 👀

I learnt this the hard way.

I spent YEARS dieting because I thought getting leaner would eventually give me the body I wanted.

Instead, I just became a skinny smaller version with no shape or muscle…

The missing piece was having MUSCLE 👏🏼

At some point you have to stop asking:

“How can I get smaller?”

And start asking:

“How can I BUILD the physique I actually want?”

Eat enough. Train hard. Progress your lifts. Build muscle. Give it TIME.

You cannot diet your way to that toned physique 🔐

The scale went up. Now what?

A higher number doesn’t automatically mean you’ve gained body fat. Your weight can fluctuate from water retention, your menstrual cycle, sodium, carbs, stress, digestion, training and even how much food is sitting in your system.

Don’t panic over one weigh-in. Look at the trend, not the number!

“I’m so good during the week, then I ruin it on the weekend.”

If this sounds familiar, the problem probably isn’t your Monday–Friday discipline.

It’s the cycle of restriction, overthinking food and then feeling like you’ve earned a free-for-all once the weekend hits.

Your plan should work for your whole week, not just the five days you’re “being good”.

Consistency isn’t eating perfectly. It’s learning how to make your goals fit into real life.

The abductor machine gets more questions than anything else on the floor, and nine times out of ten it's the same one. Am I even doing this right? 👀

Usually, no. Here's the fix.

Set the pad against the outside of your knee, not your shin. If it's sitting low, your leg is doing the work in the wrong place and your hip switches off.

Start narrow. Most people set the range too wide, hit the end of it and let the machine bounce them back in. You want a range you can control on the way out and the way back.

Now the bit that changes everything. Lean your torso forward slightly, around fifteen to twenty degrees. Sitting bolt upright shifts the work into the TFL at the front of your hip. Hinging forward puts it into the glute med, which is the muscle you're actually there for.

Push out slow. Pause. Come back slower. If the plates are clanging at the bottom of every rep, the weight is doing the work, not you.

And stop loading the whole stack. If your torso is rocking side to side to move it, you're training your spine, not your hips. 💪

Half the stack, controlled, with a two second return will do more in three weeks than ego lifting has done in three months.

Save this for your next lower body day. Then come find us on the floor and we'll check it in person.
