Our Forest Lake Lions Club had another fantastic fundraising day at Bunnings Oxley on Saturday. Our team worked tirelessly all-day selling hundreds of sausages to the hungry visitors to Bunnings. We would like to thank all our hard-working, amazing Lions members that supported this fundraising activity and big shout out to our young St John’s College Leo’s for their volunteering efforts. Funds raised at these BBQ’s help support our local projects. 🌭

Lions Club of Forest Lake and St Johns Anglican College Leos Club are working to protect the environment to create healthier communities and a more sustainable world for everyone to enjoy.😀👏🌳 On Sunday 22nd March our wonderful volunteers in the Lions and Leo’s Clubs joined forces and collected a large volume of litter along Forest Lake Boulevard and down along College Avenue past St Johns Anglican College.

In so doing, many items were picked up that were hazardous, not only to the community but also to our wildlife living in the area.🦆
This initiative not only supports Lions Clubs International’s environmental challenge, but it is also a great way to enable community-minded people of all ages to work together for the common good.

I was proud to recently present a new defibrillator and new first aid kit to Wayne from Forest Lake Community House on behalf of the Lions Club of Forest Lake. Our club was successful in securing a grant from the Commonwealth Government Stronger Communities Programme for our First Response Matters project. The grant was used to purchase first aid kits and a defibrillator, for use when attending community events, this vital equipment will enhance the club’s ability to respond to medical emergencies during community activities, potentially saving lives and ensuring public safety.
In addition, our Club requested additional funding for a wall-mounted first aid kit and defibrillator, for Forest Lake Community House. Forest Lake Community House is a vibrant hub and integral part of the Forest Lake community offering a diverse range of activities and facilities.

If you would like to know more about this project or are interested in volunteering to help in your local community, please contact President Lion April Lindel on 0402 287 066.

The Lions Club of Forest Lake is bringing a new reading initiative to Forest Lake State School with the introduction of the "Read Bears program". 🧸📖 This program aims to enhance children’s reading skills by encouraging them to develop a nightly reading routine with their very own cuddly bear companion. Year One students will receive special presentation boxes containing a bear, a book, and an information sheet for parents. The bears will be donated by local knitting groups or individuals who would like to be part of this program. The Lions club members expressed enthusiasm about the initiative’s potential impact on the students’ literacy. Forest Lake State School Principal Kylie Steinhardt is looking forward to having this new program at the school and seeing the benefits it will create in the young students.

JOIN THE FOREST LAKE LIONS CLUB!

It’s membership month and the Forest Lake Lions are looking for someone like you. Would you like to give a few hours each month to make a difference in your community! The Lions Club of Forest Lake is a local organisation dedicated to serving our local community. We aim to strengthen our community by supporting those in need, and promoting understanding, kindness and peace.

Our members participate in all sorts of activities including fundraising projects such as Bunnings BBQ’s, community event BBQ’s and selling Lions Christmas Cakes. We deliver several community service projects such as the sponsoring children with disabilities to attend sport and recreational events and collecting eyeglasses and donations for international humanitarian efforts. We also have regular social activities such as monthly dinner meetings, monthly birthday social celebrations, an Australia Day party, Christmas get together and we support our St John’s Leo’s activities such as the recognising Children of Courage event and adopt a road project.

Our members decide on the level of participation that they are comfortable with, regularly or occasionally. Whatever your passion is whether it’s cooking a barbeque, selling cakes, organising events, catering or lending a hand, come to a Lions event today and say count me in.

If you would like to volunteer and become a member of the Forest Lake Lions, please contact Lion Heather at [email protected]
