πŸ”΄βšͺ OPEN WATER βšͺπŸ”΄

Thirteen IGSC swimmers took on the Brisbane Open Water Champs at Coolum this weekend, and what a day they gave us.

A huge congratulations to Olivia, Harry, Charlie, Keira, Lachlan, Zac, Xavier, Ollie, Bernie, Lizzie and Oliver S, who either raced open water for the very first time or stepped up to a bigger distance than they had ever swum before. No lane ropes, no black line, no walls to push off. Just open water and a lot of self belief. That takes real guts, and every one of them backed themselves and got it done.

Special mention to Charlie and Ollie, who both achieved national qualifying times in their first ever 5km event. An absolutely phenomenal achievement and a reward for the work they have put in.

We would also like to celebrate our

A super big thank you to our tattoo artist Vanessa, who had a constant stream of kids being marked up with their numbers across the day, to Katie on transponders, to Peter who was BBQ master for our team sausage sizzle, and to Adam who helped out on registrations. We greatly appreciate all of the support our parents give.

Finally, thank you to Coach Tom for being there and pur marquee set and and the kids. What a fantastic day of fun and we are so grateful to have such an amazing team of kids representing our club. We hope to see you all there again next year!

What a meet. Thirty one IGSC swimmers took to the blocks at the Queensland Short Course Championships, and across 125 swims they came away with 99 personal best times.

Sixty one swims finished inside the top 20 in the state, 32 of those inside the top 10, and our swimmers brought home ten medals with Henry crowned QLD SC champion in the 50 Free and 100 Free.

Qualifying for this meet is no small thing. The times required sit close to, and in some events above, national age standards, so every one of our swimmers earned their place in a very fast field. To then go faster again, at that level, in that company, says everything about the work being done in the pool each week.

We’re so proud of every single one of you.

Congratulations to Lachlan! πŸŠπŸŽ‰

Lachlan represented Queensland at the School Sport Australia Games in Melbourne, finishing 7th in Australia in the 50m Breaststroke, an exceptional swim on the national stage.

To even be selected for the Queensland team is a huge achievement, and to back it up with a top 10 finish at a national level is outstanding. Alongside the racing, Lachlan also got to enjoy the sights of Melbourne with family, with Boston cheering him on from the crowd.

So proud of you, Lachlan!

On the eve of the School Sport Australia Games in Melbourne, we’re so excited to congratulate Lachlan on his selection in the Queensland team, competing in the 50m Breaststroke this Wednesday!

We’d also love to acknowledge Boston and Lachlan S, who were also selected but have had to withdraw due to illness and injury. Huge congratulations to you both, selection alone is no small feat.

Being selected for the Queensland team at this level is a fantastic achievement, with only the very best in the state making the cut. Well done to all three swimmers!

Good luck and safe travels, Lachlan. Go smash it, we’re all cheering you on! πŸ’ͺ
