Round 5 Results
Our First XI, following on from Arsh Bhalla s massive 124 last week and the 2/20 they had East overnight, came out firing and snagged a couple of early wickets. Credit to the young East boys who dug in and pushed the result out a little longer, but our lads stayed patient, took the final 8 wickets, and walked away with the W. ABs massive hundred last week.
The Second XI, bowling at East for the second time in the match, started strongly before the innings slowed… until Jake the snake Roberts , our seventh change bowler steamed in and tore the game open with a ridiculous 7/13. East finished only 40 runs ahead, and our boys flicked the switch to T20 mode, chasing it down before stumps to claim a strong outright win!
Our Third XI took on VRI and delivered a disciplined performance, with three boys Ollie Macca, micky D and Geordie Adam grabbing three wickets each to restrict VRI to 10/86. The chase didn’t begin smoothly, but the boys dug deep and reached the target in the 21st over, finishing 6/87 and securing the points.
The Fourth XI were up against a quality Brown Hill outfit. Bowling first, luck wasn’t on our side as Brown Hill posted 6/419. Our young team fought bravely in reply. The top order showed heart, and the highlight was Ollie Geier’s run-a-ball 108*, supported beautifully by young Azaad with 38*. Despite the effort, we finished 6/178, just short this week.
All in all, a very solid weekend for the Corra Train — and hey, you know what they say: “Three outta four ain’t bad”… or something like that!
