⚽ MEET YOUR COMMITTEE — LUCY LONZA
Not all heroes wear capes. Some of them coach an undefeated U12 girls team and are pretty sure they understand the offside rule now.
👋 Lucy Lonza — General Member & U12 Girls Coach
Lucy's kids spotted soccer training at Thompson Reserve six years ago and wanted in. That was that. She's never played soccer herself but has three kids at the club — U12 girls, U10s, and a four year old who is basically already registered.
Two years ago she jumped into coaching the Under 10s with another mum — positions, tactics, and the critical importance of the orange roster. She then took on the U12 girls when the team was brand new to the league.
What she loves most: watching kids grow in confidence, friendships forming mid season, a team clicking into gear.
Outside the Stars: mum of three, secondary school teacher, Pilates instructor. Busy is an understatement.
💛 "There's heaps of ways to get involved — especially if you're already at soccer. Jump on the BBQ, help with training, team manager or committee. Just turn up."
⚽ MEET YOUR COMMITTEE — VAIMOA ASA LEAUSA
Behind every good looking club social media page is someone who actually knows what they're doing. At the Stars, that's Mo.
👋 Mo Asa Leausa — General Member & Communications
Mo found the Stars during 2020 when Sunday morning kick-arounds were about the only thing going. Getting in the way and drop kicking a soccer ball a very long way was his jam — so when everything opened back up, the goalkeeper role beckoned. Six years later he's still here, playing Reserves, and this year his son has joined him at the club.
Mo made a deliberate decision to join the committee — he saw the club trying to find its feet post-COVID and put his hand up to help. His background in graphic design meant he had something specific to offer. The club website, the social media, the reason we don't look like we're still running off a 2014 page — that's Mo.
Best moment? Being part of a winning Reserves final last season. Takes the cake. 🏆
What he loves most: the family-friendly nature and grassroots culture. Anyone at the Stars can put their hand up, give their best and be valued for it.
Outside the Stars: dad of four boys in Korumburra, teaches nearby, tries to keep out of trouble.

⚽ MEET YOUR COMMITTEE — MATT SMITH
Some people come to watch their kids play. Matt ended up as Secretary. It's a slippery slope.
👋 Matt Smith — Secretary
Matt came to the Stars four years ago when his youngest daughter wanted to play U17s. Then his middle daughter joined the Women's team. Then he started marshalling. Then running lines. This year — committee. Sound familiar?
He had plans to play Reserves himself but an injury had other ideas. Now he keeps things running — Football Victoria registrations, correspondence, player approvals, and this year leading the whole club through the move from printed team sheets to the Dribl app. It went smoothly on Round 1. That's Matt.
Favourite moments: watching Eleanor and Laura play every week, the Pride Rounds, and beating certain clubs. You know who you are. 😏
Outside the Stars he plays clawhammer banjo and Irish tenor banjo, teaches Science at Korumburra Secondary College — 22 years and counting — and gets to Clyde to watch Melbourne City Women when he can.

Came for the soccer. Stayed for the sausages.
👋 Stacey Hislop — General Member
Stacey's daughter started in the Under 6s seven years ago. Stacey had never played soccer, knew nothing about the game and is still learning the rules. Now her twins play too and she's somehow doing uniforms, sponsorship, BBQ duties and organising the MiniRoos end of season celebrations.
Over the years she's tried merchandise (not her strength), Secretary (not for her), and coaching (will never do that again). She has found her lane and she is very good at it. The new playing tops everyone keeps raving about this season? That's Stacey. 👕
What she loves most: the inclusive environment. Anyone and everyone is welcome and it's always about the fun.
Most proud of: slowly building the club's sponsorship base — money that goes directly back into giving kids more opportunities. Also the MiniRoos gala day last year. Great vibe.
Outside the Stars: nurse, three kids, one dog.
