⚽ INVERLOCH STARS — EARLY SEASON CHECK IN
Six weeks in and things are looking pretty healthy at the Stars. Here's what's been happening.
But before we get into it — this club doesn't operate without volunteers. Every coach and team manager giving up their weekends, their weeknights, and probably a bit of their sanity to make this happen — thank you. Genuinely. We couldn't do any of this without you.
WE LOOK MINT 👕
First things first — massive shoutout to Stacey Hislop for kitting everyone out in brand new playing tops this season. Fully legit. People might actually start taking us seriously now, which is a little bit terrifying.
COUNTRY CHAMPS 🏆
12 Inverloch Stars juniors made the trip to Geelong last weekend for the junior championships. By all accounts it was a tremendously fun weekend. Proud of every one of them for representing the Stars.
ON THE PITCH ⚽
Three U6 teams. Three U8 teams. Three U10 teams. That has never happened at Inverloch Stars. Ever. Soccer is very much alive in Invy.
🟡 U12 Girls — 5 wins from 5. Top of the ladder. Enough said.
🟡 Women's — took down Leongatha in the Pride Cup and sitting top of the ladder after Round 6. Wins over Leongatha don't come easy. The Women are flying.
🟡 U17s — rocky Round 1, then three straight wins. Currently sitting second. Ruby and Evie Sampson have already cemented spots in the Senior Women's side too.
🟡 Reserves — quietly doing their thing, one eye on a grand final rematch.
🟡 Everyone else — good vibes, hard work, good things coming.
COMMUNITY SPOTLIGHT 💛
Meet Laura Burt. Women's Team Manager for every season since 2023, player, coach, and mum of two little girls — Stella and Lani — with a third on the way in July.
Laura coached the Women's team alongside Lindsey for three seasons — the first of which was somewhat unofficial given Laura was busy teaching Lindsey the rules. You're welcome, Lindsey.
On what she loves about the Stars: "Its inclusive environment. We welcome anyone with open arms. It's not about winning every game — it's about showing up and having a great time."
A former boss once described Laura as someone who "calls a spade a spade, unless of course it's a shovel." Women's team — you're in good hands. 😂
SOMETHING TO LOOK FORWARD TO 🏗️
The old cricket clubrooms are gone. Demolished. Come next April, Inverloch Stars will have a brand new facility with proper changerooms. It's been a long time coming.
Also — welcome to our new international players. Ifan from Wales, Will from Cambodia and Chris from Kenya. We're a proud multicultural club and we love having you here. 🌍
WE NEED A TREASURER 📣
No accounting degree required. No experience needed. Just someone comfortable with a spreadsheet who wants to help a great community club. If that's you, please get in touch. 👇
For the full early season report head to the Inverloch Stars TeamApp. Want to know who's actually running this club? We've introduced the full committee over there too. Normal people, turns out.
One team. One dream. Come down and watch a game sometime. ⚽
