Inverloch Bowling Club -Thursday Social Bowls - 28/5/26

What a great turn up we had this week for Social Bowls. There were 53 players who took to the green to show off their skills. We welcomed six visitors from Whittlesea Bowling Club and a mixture of new and old members.
The weather was up and down and eventually the drizzle we had endured on and off all day won out and play was abandoned four ends into the second game. Despite this, the players all enjoyed a competitive and fun day of bowls and some homemade tummy warming pumpkin soup prepared and served by Jim Haydon was waiting for us all when we went inside. Thanks Jim, the members and visitors all appreciate and enjoy your soup each week during the Winter months.

Results for the day were three, two game winners, with the Hard Luck story going to the team of Keith Cousens, Cheryl Abbott and Mean Price with 23 points. Runners’ Up were the team of Doug Archer, Joyce Arnold, David Turnbull and Ray Cox with 29 points and the Winners on the day who got over the line by 1 point were the team skipped by Daryl McStravick, Joan McStravick (3rd), Marion Aldenhaven (2nd) and Arthur Moule (Lead) with 30 points. Well done everybody.

Also, a reminder that our ‘Bowl Over Cancer Day’ is being held on Thursday 11th June. Don’t forget to put your names down on the list in the Clubrooms with all proceeds on the day going to the Wonthaggi Hospital Cancer Unit.
We look forward to seeing you all next week and thanks to Match Committee for their continued efforts to make Social Days possible.

THURSDAY SOCiAL BOWLS - 21-5-26

It was another great day in Inverloch last Thursday for our social bowls day. Forty-one players enjoyed two games of triples and fours. Four teams won both their games. The winning team was determined by games and then shots up. Winners for the day with two games and ten shots up were Di Selby, Carol Thorn, Malcolm Marshall and Arthur Moule. Coming in as runner-up was the team of Keith Cousens, Gary Scott, Anne Greening (visitor) and Chas Cameron with two games and nine shots up.

Thanks to Match Committee for another good day and to Jenny Haydon for the report and photos.

Thursday Social Bowls Report - 14/5/26

Inverloch Bowling Club held their regular social Thursday bowls last week. It was a fantastic day, warm and with no wind. Forty-one bowlers played a combination of fours and triples. There were two games of ten ends. Between the games everyone enjoyed a delicious home-made soup lunch. Three teams won both their games so it then went to shots up. The winners with thirteen shots up were Jon Justin, Keith Cousens and Ted Lee. Runners-up with twelve shots up were Pam Sutcliffe, Katherine Heinemann and Rob Stevenson.

Member's Night

Good Morning/ Afternoon All,

It’s Member’s Night again tomorrow night, Friday 15th May from 5pm.

The jackpot this fortnight is $200.00 and its there for the taking if you are in the Clubhouse when your name is drawn.

Talking about the Clubhouse, if you haven’t been there recently you may not have seen the changes. Our new President Bill has been busy decorating the walls with memorabilia from the Club’s proud history, plaques, premiership photos, and a new trophy cabinet at the entry. That’s another reason to come along tomorrow night and see more of our club history on display.

I hope to see you there, best wishes and good luck in the jackpot draw.

THURSDAY SOCIAL BOWLS - 7/5/26

It was a very cold, wet, windy day for social bowls at Inverloch on Thursday. Only eleven players were keen enough to brave the weather. As a result we only had four teams . After the first game, the two winners played off against each other and the two losing teams played each other. The end result was that only one team won both their games and were nine shots up. That was the team of Chris O'Donnell, Rob Dowling and Mark Beech-Jones ( a visitor from Tasmania). The runners-up with a win and a loss and one shot down was the team of Jenny Haydon, John Cook and Ray Cox. Hopefully next week the weather will be more favourable.

Thanks Jenny Haydon for the report and photo and to Match Committee for battling on in very trying weather conditions. I’m sure the brave players appreciated your efforts.

NIGHT BOWLS REPORT - 5/5/2026

The following is my final Night Bowls Report for this series.

Conditions improved throughout the day on Tuesday to give us another mild
evening to conclude our Autumn Night Bowls competition.

The random pick of the table draw used on the last night produced some interesting results. The winners on the night were on green 1, Tracy and Richard Cove and over on green 2 Diane and Geoff Coleman took home the prize
money.

Ladder leaders and top honours for the eight-week season in group A saw Peter Shaw and Keith Cousens take home the prize money for the second consecutive year, 15 points ahead of the runners up, Michael Coram and Geoff
Peters. It was a very impressive performance by Peter and Keith who had a win/loss record of 13 wins, 1 draw and 2 losses for the season. In group B it was a much tighter competition for top spot with Craig Selby and Mark Whitehouse finishing 2 points ahead of Richard and Tracy Cove. Again, it was an impressive effort by the winners, with Mark Whitehouse a first year
bowler teaming up with Craig Selby one of our Club coaches.

Thanks to Jim Haydon and Pam Sutcliffe for helping with the organization of the event.

Our next Night Bowls event will take place in September, so look out for the entry sheet when it’s posted later in the year.

Attached are two photos, Tuesday Nights Winners (Richard and Tracy Cove, Di and Geoff Coleman) and the Overall Competition Winners (Peter Shaw, Keith Cousens, Mark Whitehouse & Craig Selby).

Cheers

John Sutcliffe

On behalf of all the players, a big thank you to you, John and your helpers Pam & Jim for making the night competition a fun, well organised event.

Night Bowls Report - 28 April 26

The penultimate night of our night bowls series was played in ideal conditions under the lights at Inverloch on Tuesday night.

Again, this week there were a few upsets with the winners on green 1 being the consistent pair of John Duthie and Bill Brown who claimed the win on shots-up. Over on green 2 Craig Selby and Mark Whitehouse won the night and in so doing reclaimed top spot on the ladder from the Coves in Group B.

With one week to go in the competition, Peter Shaw and Keith Cousens seemingly have top spot in Group A sown-up, however there are three teams vying for the runners up prize. In Group B Criag Selby and Mark Whitehouse are 4 points clear on top from the Coves, with the McNairs 20 points behind in 3rd spot. Next weeks random draw in the final round could influence the final results, particularly in Group B.

Attached is the photo of this week’s winners.

Cheers

John Sutcliffe

Thanks again John for a good night of bowls and turning on the weather to good conditions and thanks Pam for the great music selection. All my favourites were played and yours too I believe.
