Just a reminder about the 2026 Great Barrier Reef Chess Open. Held in Cairns in a week’s time.

If you haven’t yet got your entries in here are the instructions to do so:

Direct deposit the Cairns Chess Club bank account:
BSB: 633 000 Account Number: 201750007. Use your name as the reference. Email [email protected] when paid with:
Name; Date of birth; Mobile number; Email; Chess organisation membership number if known (e.g. CAQ).

Following our AGM we have adjusted our club membership prices to include the Chess Association Queensland membership!

This means that moving forward, if you’re an ICC member you will be a CAQ member.

This enables our members to compete in CAQ rated tournaments and also helps the club come under the public liability insurance of CAQ.
