The chaos started before we even hit the track — the trailer door was about to fall off just out of bordertown thanks to missing nyloc nuts on one hinge.
First run was a mess. Bike came back to the pits backfiring, then fired up again but sat screaming at 4000rpm, cooking the rear brakes as we tried to stop the wheel from free spinning. Found the throttle body butterfly bent. Straightened it. It bent again.
Pulled the rocker covers and found the real problem — two solid lifter set bolts cracked. No internet, no specs, so we matched the clearances to the other inlet valves and sent it. The bike instantly sounded sharp and angry. Finally something going our way.
Next run — we were on for the win until the nitrous supply fitting sheared. The 10lb bottle dumped itself mid pass, fuel doubled, and the engine drowned. Back to the pits. Replace the fitting. Swap bottles. Reset.
And then the bike came alive. Best it has ever run. Clean, fast, and pulling hard. Made the semi-final and won a tight one.
Then it stalled on the return road.
Back in the pits, the computer told the story: oil pressure sensor failure. Engine shut down to save itself. No spare. No way around it. That was the end of our weekend — we forfeited the semi so the final could run.
But here’s the upside: We got some of the best data yet from the new computer, and when this bike is on song, it’s an absolute weapon. The potential is there — now it’s just about keeping the gremlins out.
