All competitors!
We are fairly confident with the quick action taken against the fire ant nests the weekend can go ahead however, we will reassess later in the week and make a decision.
Self refunding, as usual is available for those who would prefer not to run.

We would never place anyone’s dog in harms way, and that is why the Whippet Clubs trial was postponed and our wonderful workers spent Saturday attacking all the nests and again today for that may have been missed. Products used are “animal safe” however the plan is to set a course that allows us to avoid as best we can.

Again a final decision will be made Thursday/ Friday at the latest, allowing for the fast acting products to have a chance to do their thing. Entries will close tomorrow morning for the trial, if we postponed self refunding will be available.

Entries will be open in the next few days!

We will trial accepting all entries but with some changes to how we have ran previously.

Excusals
As per the rules, dogs excused in their first run may be granted a second run at the end of the trial at the Affiliate's discretion. (Rule 6.1)

Dogs who score under 40 in their first run, you will be given a 2nd run at the end of the trial, weather and time permitting. You are not eligible for a qualifying certificate if you get a score under 40 in either run. (Rule 5.13)

Be ready… if you are not ready for your go, we will skip you and continue down the run order. You will then run at the end. If you are not ready by the time we have finished the run and gone on break, you will be marked absent. Please be aware if we call you 3 times and you do not respond you can be marked absent. (Rule 8.2).

If you haven’t read the rules, now might be a good time to do so…https://dogsaustralia.org.au/media/10291/8-da-lure-coursing-rules-01-01-25.pdf

We will reassess the entry situation after the May trials.

Catalogues and numbers are now available from ShowManager. Your numbers were emailed to you, some people may have received the Catalgoue by email, unfortunately a lot have bounced back.

LURE OPERATOR CHANGE - Leah Perry will now be the lure operator for this trial.
All competitors!

Thank you very much to you all for entering! Given the large numbers, can you please be ready for your call.

Please remember!
* If you are running late, text me on 0422 425 413 please. Once 4.30pm comes and no text, you will be marked absent and will not be able to compete as all paperwork will be completed.
* All entire bi***es must be vet checked, no bi***es in season can be within the Lure Coursing Field vicinity.
* Please be ready for your call, we will notify you a few dogs ahead to start warming up your dog.
* Please do not set up or have excited dogs along the fence line, it can be off putting for some dogs on the field to have dogs screaming at them as they chase the bags.
* The order of running will be as per the Catalogue, if you miss your turn you will move to the end of the first round. If you miss your turn in the first round and we have gone to break, you will be marked absent.
* Certificates will be emailed out by the end of the weekend.

Balloting

Over the last year we saw a large influx of lure coursing entries, which is fantastic but also causes some concern as realistically there is a limit of how many dogs we can successfully run in a day. Lure coursing does have a heat policy we need to abide by which can limit the time we have as well.

Excused dogs in course 1 - we may not allow a 2nd run if you are excused in the 1st run. (Rule 6.1)

Earlier starts may come into play, 6.00/6.30 check in, 7am coursing, but this also depends on the frost on the ground that early.

We will be running the ballot on all of our trials. All trials will be capped at 80 dogs excluding workers dogs. If the cap is reached a limit of 3 dogs/ competitor will be applied.

Now, we set a cap of 80 dogs and get 75 entries, every one will run. If we get 100 entries, the limit of 3 dogs will apply.

The Ballot System
It is a ballot in system not ballot out.
You will do you entries as per usual, except you will stop before adding to cart. If entry numbers exceed the cap, we will draw the ballot approx. 10 days before the trial and allow everyone 5 days to pay for their entries. If people do not pay on time, we will remove their entries and redraw the ballot until we reach the cap.
If entries are under the cap we will do the draw and advise everyone to go pay for their entries and the original closing date will stand to pay for your entries.
