HAPPY FATHER’S DAY TO ALL OUR KUNG FU DADS!

Today we want to recognise all the amazing fathers, grandfathers and father figures within our Freestyle Kung Fu Academy family.

As a father, one of the greatest things we can give our children isn’t simply what we provide for them — it’s the example we set for them.

Strength. Discipline. Courage. Respect. Resilience.

Every time you bring your child to training, encourage them when things get difficult, celebrate their achievements or help them get back up after a setback, you’re teaching lessons that extend far beyond the Kung Fu floor.

To all our dads who sit and watch classes, hold pads, travel to competitions, help with training, cheer from the sidelines and proudly watch their children grow — thank you.

And to the dads who step onto the floor to improve themselves as an example for their children, you’re creating an example that they will carry with them for the rest of their lives.

From myself and the entire instructor team at Freestyle Kung Fu Academy, we wish all our Kung Fu dads a fantastic Father’s Day.

FIGHT TRAINING AND WEAPONS CLASS CANCELLED – FRIDAY 4 SEPTEMBER 🥋

Hi FKFA Family,

Unfortunately, Fight Training at 4:00 pm and Weapons Class at 5:00 pm will both be cancelled tomorrow afternoon, Friday 4 September. Both classes will recommence as normal next Friday.

I also want to personally apologise to all of our students and families for my absence from the Academy this week. I’ve been hit pretty hard with the flu and, as much as I hate being away from the floor and our students, I’ve needed to take the time to recover properly.

I want to give a massive thank you to our incredible team of instructors who have stepped up throughout the week and kept the Academy running smoothly. Classes have continued on schedule, and I’m extremely grateful knowing that our students have continued to receive the high standard of instruction and training we pride ourselves on at Freestyle Kung Fu Academy.

It really demonstrates the strength of the team we have built and the quality and commitment of our instructors. 🙏🥋

Thank you also to all our students and families for your understanding and for the messages wishing me well. They have been greatly appreciated.

I’m looking forward to getting back into the Academy and seeing everyone again soon.

🥋🏆 10 QUEENSLAND STATE CHAMPIONS! 🏆🥋

What an incredible weekend for the Freestyle Kung Fu Academy Warriors at the National All Styles Queensland State Championships!

We took 12 Kung Fu Warriors into the Queensland State Championships, and our team delivered an absolutely outstanding performance.

🥇 10 GOLD MEDALS
🥈 5 SILVER MEDALS
🥉 8 BRONZE MEDALS

🔥 23 MEDALS FROM 12 WARRIORS! 🔥

And incredibly, EVERY SINGLE MEMBER OF our team placed in the TOP 3 in their divisions!

🏆 DOUBLE GOLD — DOUBLE STATE CHAMPIONS! 🏆

Two of our standout performances of the day came from Si Hing Jazzy and Keira, who both produced exceptional results across the fighting divisions.

🥇 GOLD — Continuous Sparring

Both girls walked away as TWO-TIME QUEENSLAND STATE CHAMPIONS, taking gold in both of their respective fighting divisions!

An incredible achievement and a reflection of the hard work, courage, skill and determination they have shown in their training. 👊🔥

As proud as I am of the medals, I am even prouder of how our Warriors represented Freestyle Kung Fu Academy.

The courage to step onto the floor.
The discipline to prepare.
The sportsmanship shown to their opponents.
The support they gave each other.
And the standard of Kung Fu they demonstrated throughout the championships.

That is what being part of Team FKFA is all about.

To our Warriors, instructors, parents, families and everyone who supported the team — THANK YOU!

You should all be incredibly proud.

🔥 FKFA Fighters Camp 2026 – Gordon Country 🔥

What an incredible weekend away with our dedicated fighters and competition team at Gordon Country.

Over three days we challenged ourselves physically, mentally and emotionally, pushing beyond our comfort zones to continue developing as martial artists.

This year’s camp was hosted by Master Sifu Frank Mechler, with specialist training sessions delivered alongside our senior instructors Sifu Luke and Sifu Dan.

Our focus throughout the weekend was on taking control of a fight, developing the confidence to fight on the inside, overcoming the fear of being hit, and refining the high-level skills required to become a complete fighter. These are the lessons that simply can’t be learned by staying inside your comfort zone.

A huge congratulations and thank you to Sibak Lucas, Jaxon, Callum, Kiera and Jayden for their outstanding effort, commitment and willingness to learn. The feedback from each of you after the camp was incredible, and it was fantastic to see the growth in both your skills and your mindset over the weekend.

Of course, it wasn’t all hard work! Saturday night gave us the chance to relax, enjoy each other’s company and have an epic series of lightsabre battles—thanks to Sibak Lucas and his amazing lightsabre collection! There were plenty of laughs and memories made around the camp, reminding us that some of the strongest bonds in martial arts are built outside the training hall.

Weekends like this are what the Freestyle Kung Fu Academy is all about—hard work, discipline, teamwork, friendship and constantly striving to become better than we were yesterday.
Thank you to everyone who attended and gave 100%. I’m already looking forward to the next Fighters Camp!

The countdown is on!

From Friday 3rd July to Sunday 5th July, our Fighters and Competition Team will head to the stunning surroundings of Gordon Country for an unforgettable weekend of training, challenge, growth, and team bonding.

This isn’t just another training session.

This is where skills are sharpened, confidence is built, and champions are forged.

Over three action-packed days, students will be pushed beyond their comfort zones through:

👊 Intense fight training
👊 Sparring strategy and drills
👊 Strength and conditioning
👊 Mental toughness development
👊 Leadership and teamwork challenges
👊 Campfire discussions and personal growth

Success in martial arts doesn’t happen by accident. It comes from dedication, discipline, persistence, and the willingness to do the hard work when others won’t.

Hard Work Overtime To Accomplish Great Skills.

I am looking forward to spending the weekend with an amazing group of dedicated students who continue to represent Freestyle Kung Fu Academy with pride, respect, and determination.

The friendships built, lessons learned, and memories made at Fighters Camp often last a lifetime.

What an incredible day for the Freestyle Kung Fu Academy team at Round 2 of the National Allstyles Martial Arts Competition on the Gold Coast!

This was our biggest competition team ever, and every single student represented our academy with pride, courage, discipline, respect, and an outstanding fighting spirit. From the first match to the final division, our students left everything on the mats and demonstrated exactly what Freestyle Kung Fu Academy is all about.

A huge thank you to all of our parents, families, friends, and supporters who travelled with us and cheered our students on throughout the day. Your support means the world to our team, and these achievements would not be possible without you.

Freestyle Kung Fu Academy continues to prove that we are one of the strongest and most successful martial arts competition teams in the country, and we are only getting started.

⚠️ Important Reminder:
All students must attend in their full Kung Fu uniform, including their traditional Kung Fu jacket.

This week marks the beginning of our Mid-Year Grading Week, where students will have the opportunity to demonstrate the skills, discipline, focus, and dedication they have developed through their training.

📢 Please Note:
There will be NO general classes this week due to gradings. All regular classes will resume next week.

Remember, grading is not about being perfect—it is about showing your improvement, effort, attitude, and commitment to your training.
