Huge congratulations to our winners across all grades in this year’s Club Championship:
A Grade - Simon Direen
B Grade - Jason Nichols
C Grade- Jay Summers
Veterans - Ned Trewartha
And here’s a fun twist - all three champions in A, B and C grades are left-handers. Clearly the southpaws were dialled in this year.
Well played to all competitors. It was a fantastic championship and a great showcase of golf at Huon Valley.

Thank you to Dallas Jenkins, Will Minnebo, Adrian Butt, Jimmy James, Mick Johnston and Tim Rumney for their help removing the existing carpet in the clubhouse in readiness for the new carpet tiles which will be installed on Tuesday.
If anyone would like some old carpet for a shed or shack, some rolls have been left outside the front doors.

As the landfill works are nearing completion at the back of the 18th green, a huge thanks to Michael Griggs for supplying his tractor, post hole driver and expertise to reinstate the fence, ably assisted by his two apprentice farmers Mark Baldwin and Geoff Cockerill.

A huge well done to Mandy Lovell (l), who has claimed the 2026 Ladies Club Championship with a fantastic performance across all three rounds.
In Division 2, congratulations to Eve Roe on a strong and consistent campaign.
And a special shoutout to Anne Rowbotham (r), winner of the Veterans category.

The 2026 Community Bank Huon Valley Open took place from 15-18 January. With a remarkable turnout in both the Ladies and Men’s competitions, this event continues to grow as a highlight in Tasmania’s golfing calendar.
Thursday’s Ladies Open drew an impressive field of 64 competitors. Debbie Taylor from Royal Hobart claimed the Huon Valley Ladies Open title with a score of 81, showcasing steady play and composure under pressure. Phillipa Skinner from Llanherne took home the Ladies Valley Cup with a nett score of 70.
The Men’s Open, held over Saturday and Sunday saw 115 competitors battling for the top spot.
Elijah Monaghan from Royal Hobart emerged victorious in the Huon Valley Men’s Open with a total score of 143, demonstrating both consistency and resilience across both rounds. Ben Hornsey from Tasmania secured the Men’s Valley Cup with a nett score of 143, highlighting the competitive balance and depth of the field.
The course itself provided a fair but demanding test, rewarding accuracy and strategic shot-making and the presence of competitors from across Tasmania and interstate added to the event’s prestige and competitive spirit.
This year’s tournament not only showcased exceptional golfing talent but also reinforced the Huon Valley Golf Club’s reputation as a welcoming and competitive host for the State’s golfing community.
The support from the Community Bank Huon Valley and our volunteers was instrumental in creating a vibrant atmosphere and ensuring the event’s smooth running.

A great start to the 2026 Huon Valley Open with the Ladies Open held today. Our Champion with an 81 was Debbie Taylor from Royal Hobart. Our Valley Cup Nett winner was Phillipa Skinner from Llanherne with a Nett 70. Perfect conditions and great weather enjoyed by 66 golfers.
Next up is the Men’s Open to be held on the weekend with a full field, which has attracted some of Tassie’s best golfers. Good golfing and we hope you enjoy the course and hospitality of the Huon Valley Golf Club.
