This opening session of the Two Athletes. One Future. series explores how longevity in horse sport is directly linked to welfare literacy, public confidence, and evidence-informed horse management.

Topics will include:
• Understanding and recognising subtle lameness
• Recovery, management, and long-term soundness
• Environmental pressures and performance sustainability
• Why education is central to the future of equestrian sport

Dr. Mike Tomlinson is an internationally respected FEI veterinarian whose work bridges elite sport, horse welfare, recovery science, and sustainable equestrian management. His ability to combine practical horsemanship with progressive welfare understanding makes him uniquely placed to lead this important conversation.

This session is relevant to every discipline and every level of participation.

Membership is more than access to competitions — it also includes important insurance cover for members across all categories.

Your membership includes Public Liability Insurance, which may assist if your horse causes damage or injury to another person or their property.

It also includes Personal Accident Insurance, which may help with some of the extra costs that can arise after an accident — including expenses that may not be covered by Medicare.

Importantly, this cover applies 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for horse-related incidents — not just when you are at an event or competition.

Did you know?
Being a member of an affiliated club does not automatically provide you with this individual cover when you are at your club. To be covered as an individual, you need to hold a current ENSW membership.

The insurance included with membership applies to horse-related activities where you are not earning an income from horses, giving members support beyond competition days.

At Equestrian NSW, we know that our sport simply could not run without officials.

Officials give their time, knowledge and commitment to ensure our events are safe, fair and well supported. They invest in training, maintain their accreditation and play a vital role in supporting riders, clubs, committees and horses across NSW.

That’s why Equestrian NSW is again supporting accredited officials by covering the cost of Officials Membership, including insurance and the EA administration fee.

For officials who also compete, coach or ride, ENSW is also providing a membership discount in recognition of their continued contribution to the sport.

Supporting our officials is one of the ways we support the future of equestrian sport in NSW.
