What a Thursday it has been, we hope you've all had a great day !!
Today was the final day of the KFC 2026 Western Victoria Girls Shield, ending another incredible tournament where the best young cricketers from western Victoria come together in a wonderful celebration of all that is so great about the game.
Every title won by any team in any sport has plenty of challenges along the way, but wowee, when it comes to some drama, you didn't need to be watching a soapie on the tv, today you needed to be out and about in Hamilton !!
All three aged competitions involved had matches being played in the morning to decide the final ladders, and no-one knew for sure just which teams would be playing off in the afternoon to decide the champions.
The skies were grey with a few spots of rain about, although thankfully much less than the poor Otways copped, which was not what everyone there needed after the fires threat for the past week...
The morning games were played, the results came in, and the three Grand FInals were set, and this evening we can announce and congratulate the champions and celebrate their efforts to win, as well as all the players and teams from every association who came along to be a part of this magnificent tournament this year.

It's been a manic three days of play, and we have over 3600 photos and videos to sift through and process for the five Hurricanes games we got to see, and we will bring you a bit of a rundown for each grade's tournament, and all the photos and videos, plus a special thank you post over the next few days and as quickly as we can.....
But a really huge thank you and congratulations to all our teams, associations, umpires, scorers, curators, sponsors, supporters and parents for all your efforts over this year's KFC Western Victoria Girls Shield, and a special thank you once again to Nat and Mase from Java Jive Mobile Coffee Van Hamilton for their wonderful support and their efforts to get around to every ground hosting games to make sure everyone could grab a top quality drink to enjoy ❤
And especially, we give our heartfelt thank you and well done to every single player from right around the teams who gave everything they could for their team and association over these three days. ❤
It's no easy thing to play five T20 games and possibly a grand final in three days in a row, amd whether you were a part of a champion team or one which tried their absolute best, you've all been amazing and everyone within your team, and supporters, and us on this page are very proud of all of you.
