Daniel Simpson, better known as "Simo," has been on the racing scene for 20 years, making a name for himself through dedication, skill, and a deep love for the sport. At 32 years old, Daniel hails from the rural town of Horsham, where he is not only a successful racer but also the owner of a mechanical workshop, balancing the demands of his racing career with running his own business. His journey began at just 12 years old when he first became captivated by the thrill of speed and competition in Speedway.
From the very beginning, Danielโs passion for motorsport was clear. Growing up, he always admired the modified sedans, drawn to their power and precision. It wasn't long before he made the leap into racing them, starting his journey in the juniors before moving on to the 3-litre class, and eventually settling into the Modified Sedans where he truly made his mark. His extensive career boasts an impressive list of achievements, including being crowned the 2018-2019 Victorian Modified Sedan Champion, and more recently, winning the 2023-2024 Ern Overall Memorial and the 2015-2016 Di Watson Memorial. These victories are a testament to Danielโs consistency and skill, but also to the hard work of his dedicated crew, Michelle, Rob, and Nicole, who have supported him every step of the way.
Danielโs racing career has also been a story of constant growth. Heโs raced on numerous tracks, but his favorite by far is Toowoomba. For him, itโs more than just the trackโitโs the facility, the organization, and the atmosphere that make it stand out. When asked what keeps him coming back to the track, Daniel simply says, "The racing is clean and exciting, and thatโs what Iโve always loved about it."
When he's not behind the wheel, Daniel enjoys unwinding on his hobby farm and is an avid motorbike enthusiast. Though racing occupies much of his time, he finds balance in his love for the outdoors and working with his farm animals. It's this balance that keeps him grounded and focused, both in business and on the track.
As for his sponsors, Daniel is quick to express his gratitude for the support that has helped fuel his success. He thanks Horsham Auto Wreckers, Horsham Autoworks, Wimmera Machine Shop, Revegetation Victoria, Domestic Water Deliveries, Bratt Race Engineering, Penrite Oil, Apostle Sign Solutions, and Hayden Racecars for their continued belief in his team.
