Green Lake Water Sports

𝗚𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗟𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗰𝗹𝗼𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗹𝗴𝗮𝗲 𝘁𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴

Green Lake is to remain closed after testing confirmed the lingering presence of blue-green algae, following its initial closure in December.

Samples of water from the lake were taken for laboratory testing earlier this month to determine the safety of use of the waterway.

The public are advised that the lake is closed to all water-based activity, and anyone who comes into contact with this water should wash affected skin immediately in clean water.

People are also advised not to use the affected water for cooking, drinking, washing or showering. Boiling the affected water will not make it safe to use.

Council staff will continue to monitor the lake for the presence of toxic algae, and update the status as required.

Please note that due to the extreme heat forecast tomorrow and Blue Green Algae currently affecting Green Lake, our Christmas Tree event has been cancelled.

We have completed the Green Lake Waterway Action Plan.

The Waterway Action Plan reviewed environmental, social, cultural and economic values, and threats to these values, on Green Lake and its’ two main tributaries (Diggers Creek and Mibus Creek). The community was consulted in this project to help provide confirmed experience and knowledge.

Hi Everyone,

This Sunday there is a planning day and membership drive at the Horsham Yacht Club Rooms at 2pm.

We would encourage anyone that wishes to get involved in the development and guidance of Green Lake to join as a member and have your say. Great things are starting to happen in the background with HRCC and Westvic Business and now is the time for the community to really take charge of this great asset.

If you are unable to attend on Sunday but wish to join please message this page with your email address and we will send a membership form.

Memberships are only $100 per family.

If you go fishing at Green Lake have a thought about the people that come after you. This putrid, smelly mess is between the boat ramp and the outlet, about 30 metres, and a council bin is provided.

Looking for something to do Saturday 22nd Oct.

From 2-5pm come on out to Green Lake and check out the Clubrooms and grab a freshly cooked cinnamon donut, scones and a coffee or cold drink, witness the water flowing to Dock Lake or just relax and unwind.

A great chance to talk to members about the Lake, sailing, skiing or maybe become a member and and help drive the development of Horsham's premier recreational location (that's what we think anyway).

Where'd the beach go?

Seriously, how good is it to see water flowing through Green Lake outlet to Dock Lake. Huge environmental benefits will follow....not to mention a great season on the Lake.
