There are some days at home with a newborn where the day literally gets away from us.

We might have the day free and have every intention of doing something ‘nice’

But kids have a way of changing those plans don’t they!

I’ll be playing with the older one trying to give mum a rest. Later she’ll come downstairs hoping to finish the 3rd round reheated coffee I gave her hours ago.

Have a shower, feel a little human again – eat something & get out the door

What if the baby refuses to go down after the feed? Poo explosions, oh the washing machine just finished. The older one’s getting frustrated now after being told you’ll play with ‘him in one minute’ 40 times in a row.

If you’ve got/had kids you know the feeling.

Anyway, the day went on like this. We never really made it out. It was late afternoon – Georgie had just had ‘enough’ (as you do at this point in the day.)

I was out in the drive with Asher on his scooter, hitting tennis balls against the wall (my new love atm). I gave Georgie the racket and challenged her to 6 forehand shots in a row, no double bounces.

5min later I could tell she was lighter. Her mood shifted and this left her more capable to deal with whatever was thrown her way next – not less.

This simple 5 min shows how powerful movement can be.

Never in these moments do we feel like exercise or movement, nor really want to.

But after? We wish we’d done it earlier or more often.

That little voice telling you it’s selfish to prioritise yourself.

That other people need you more.

More than you need a workout

More than you need an early night sleep

or 10 minutes to yourself to think clearly.

Don’t believe that voice for too long or you’ll lose yourself.

Not only that – but you’ll also lose the ability to show up as the person you want to be for the people you’re prioritising

Read that again.

Movement IS what you need.

"So, what actually is hybrid training? Like, what does the 'hybrid' part even mean?"

The word Hybrid is getting thrown around alot, isn't it?

Think of it this way... instead of just picking one way to train, like only lifting heavy weights or only doing just cardio on a treadmill, hybrid training blends everything together. It’s all about building a body that is strong, fast, and fit.

If you look at how the gym sets it up, they break it down into three main pillars:

Strength: You’re learning how to lift weights properly. Barbells, dumbbells, kettlebells so you actually build lean muscle, protect your joints and get genuinely strong.

Conditioning: This is the cardio side, but it’s not just staring at a wall on an exercise bike. It’s high energy, functional circuits, rowing and running that get your lungs burning and your engine built.

Mobility & Agility: Making sure you can actually move your body through a full range of motion without things feeling uncomfortable, cracking and hurting the next day.

The whole philosophy is that you shouldn't have to choose between being big and strong or lean and fit. You do both. One day you might be working on your squat technique and strength and the next you’re doing a conditioning workout that leaves you in a puddle of sweat.

Basically, it trains you to move and feel strong, fit and confident, no matter what your starting point is. It prepares your body for life outside the gym, whether that’s carrying all the groceries in one trip, running around with the kids or smashing a weekend bike ride.

But you need to check it out for yourself to understand how something can be so fun and challenging at the same time :)

If you look around the gym during any session, it’s pretty cool to see who’s actually in the room.

We’ve got tradies, corporate professionals, parents rushing in between school runs, people training for elite events and others who are just starting out. From the outside, it’s a completely random mix of people from totally different walks of life.

But the second everyone steps inside, none of that matters.

What makes this place special isn't just the gear or the programming, it’s the culture. Even when they've just finished a brutal workout, they'll turn around to cheer on the person next to them who is still digging deep. It’s the genuine fist bumps, the shared laughs when a session gets tough and the zero ego attitude that everyone brings through the doors.

There’s no judgment here. Just a bunch of good people genuinely helping each other out to be a bit better than they were yesterday.

To everyone who trains here and makes Hybrid what it is, thank you. You’ve built something pretty incredible.
