Small team, big results: Mushin Dojo finished the Victorian Championships in Werribee with 4 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze on the day! 🥋🔥

Our Mushin Dojo team brought huge heart and big results across both kata/non‑contact in the morning and full contact in the afternoon:

Every one of them stepped on the mat with strong spirit, good technique and true Mushin attitude: win or lose, they represented the dojo with pride. Massive respect also to all parents and supporters who spent their Sunday cheering from the stands. 🙌

🏆 WHAT A DAY AT THE SOSAI TRIBUTE MAFO TOURNAMENT!

Our Mushin Dojo team showed up and showed out at the Sosai Tribute MAFO tournament in Glenroy last Saturday, bringing home 11 medals across 6 incredible competitors! 🥋💪

The Results:

🥇 Nafiur — 1st place
🥈🥉 Chris — 2nd AND 3rd place
🥈 Hayden — 2nd place
🥈🥉 Keanu — 2nd AND 3rd place
🥈🥉 Cooper — 2nd AND 3rd place

Every single one of these students stepped onto the mat with courage, discipline and heart. To compete at this level takes months of training, mental toughness, and serious dedication, and they absolutely delivered.

🏆 What a weekend at the IKON Victorian Championships!

Mushin Dojo brought a small but mighty team on Sunday and came home with two podium finishes. 👊 🥋

🥇 Kittitat — Division Winner U10
🥉 Sarvam — 3rd Place U8

Incredible effort from both fighters. To step onto the full contact floor takes serious courage, and these kids delivered. We couldn't be prouder of the whole team for their spirit, focus, and heart on the day.

A huge thank you to Sensei Meysam Ranjbakhsh and Sempai Sarah Ranjbakhsh for organising a fantastic event. Your hard work and dedication to the Kyokushin community is truly appreciated. 🙏

What an incredible seminar with Shihan Peter Collas 🔥

The atmosphere in the dojo was electric from start to finish, strong spirit, sharp focus, and great energy all session long.

The drills were practical, technical, and packed with detail, giving everyone something valuable to take away, from timing and movement to application and mindset.

It was a real privilege to learn from one of the true legends of Australian Kyokushin. A huge thank you to Shihan Peter for sharing his knowledge, experience, and passion with our students and wider dojo community.

An outstanding session and one we’ll be talking about for a long time.

Shihan Peter Collas - A Living Legend of Australian Kyokushin

This is one you do NOT want to miss.

Shihan Peter Collas is one of the most decorated fighters in Australian Kyokushin history, a multiple-time National Champion and the dominant Middleweight force of the 1980s.

His record speaks for itself:
🏆 Multiple National Championships
🥈 2nd Place, Commonwealth Championships (losing only to the legendary Nick Da Costa in the final)
🌍 First Australian to crack the Top 16 at the World Tournament (4th Worlds), a feat only Gary O'Neill and Wally Schnaubelt have matched since, in open weight
🌺 Top 3 finishes competing internationally in Hawaii and New Zealand
🇯🇵 Trained at Honbu Dojo directly under Sosai himself

And if that wasn't enough, Shihan Peter completed both his 4th and 5th Dan gradings in Japan, directly under Hanshi Oishi Daigo, finishing the full 40 and 50 rounds respectively. He stands among a rare few to receive special recognition from Hanshi himself.

First session of 2026 at Mushin Dojo in St Albans started with something special 🙌

We welcomed back Sergio De Judicibus, a former Kyokushin student who paused karate 10 years ago and has since dedicated himself to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

Sergio ran an intro session on BJJ concepts, focusing on awareness of stand-up fighting vs grappling and how they connect with our Kyokushin practice. It’s something I’ve wanted to introduce to our members for a long time, and his session was clear, practical and very well received.

Huge thank you to Sergio – we hope to see him more often this year… ideally permanently 😄
