An update from our Special General Meeting on Monday night. Both clubs Brim and the Giants unanimously voted to merge our 2 clubs to create a new entity. The Horsham Cricket Association has since accepted us to do so.

Crickets going to look a little different in 2026/2027.

Exciting times ahead and thank you to all those that have got us to this point so far.

Our next step is our inaugural AGM to form our new committee and get things rolling.

📣Reminder to all members, players, parents, volunteers and supporters that our Special General Meeting is being held tonight 6:30pm down at the Hopetoun Rec Reserve. Please make it if you can to have the opportunity to ask questions and vote on the future of our club.

If you can't make it and you are eligiable to vote you can send a proxy vote to either Zac or Jack.

📢 PROXY VOTING AVAILABLE

Can’t make it to our Special General Meeting on Monday, 20 July?

In accordance with the Southern Mallee Giants Cricket Club Constitution, proxy votes are permitted and will be counted as part of the meeting.

Members will be voting on two important proposals:

🏏 Proposal 1 – Junior Cricket

To combine the Southern Mallee Giants junior cricket program with the Brim Kellalac Sheep Hills Cricket Club and St Mary’s Cricket Club to field junior teams in the Horsham Cricket Association.

🏏 Proposal 2 – Senior Cricket

To merge the Southern Mallee Giants senior cricket program with the Brim Kellalac Sheep Hills Cricket Club and compete together in the Horsham Cricket Association.

Who can submit a proxy vote?

✅ Financial Members
✅ Players
✅ Registered Volunteers
✅ Parents

How to lodge your proxy vote

If you are unable to attend the meeting, simply text either Jack Flavel (0428 503 446) or Zac Robins (0448 583 188) with your vote in the following format:

Junior – YES or NO
Senior – YES or NO

Example:

Junior – YES
Senior – YES

Please submit your proxy vote before the commencement of the meeting.

Members, Players and Parents Invited
Following discussions with neighbouring cricket clubs, the Southern Mallee Giants Cricket Club Committee has unanimously agreed to put the following proposals to our members for a vote.
This meeting will provide all members with the opportunity to ask questions, discuss the proposals and vote on the future direction of our club.

Proposal 1 – Junior Cricket
That the Southern Mallee Giants combine our junior cricket program with the Brim Kellalac Sheep Hills Cricket Club and St Mary's Cricket Club to field junior teams in the Horsham Cricket Association.

Why?
To ensure our juniors continue to have the opportunity to play cricket.
To strengthen player numbers across all junior age groups.
To provide a sustainable pathway for junior cricket into the future.
To allow our young players to compete in a strong and well-established competition.

Proposal 2 – Senior Cricket
That the Southern Mallee Giants merge our senior cricket program with the Brim Kellalac Sheep Hills Cricket Club and compete together in the Horsham Cricket Association.

Why?
To strengthen senior playing numbers.
To provide long-term stability for senior cricket.
To build a competitive and sustainable senior program.
To create the best opportunity for cricket to continue and grow within our communities.

These are significant decisions that will help shape the future of cricket within the Southern Mallee Giants Cricket Club. The committee believes these proposals provide the best opportunity to build a strong and sustainable future for both our junior and senior cricket programs.
