Your racket cover isn't just for carrying, it's protection.

Accidental knocks, scratches, and bumps can cause tiny fractures in the frame that weaken it over time. Always pop your racket back in its cover or bag when you're not on court.

A small habit that makes a big difference.

🎾 No partner? No problem.
You don't need someone on the other side of the net to have a great session.
Here are 5 ways to improve your tennis, solo:

1️⃣ Wall Training: The wall never misses. Work on your consistency, timing, and ball control by rallying against the wall. It's one of the most underrated drills in tennis.

2️⃣ Ball Machine: Let the machine do the feeding while you focus entirely on your technique. Perfect for grooving your groundstrokes and building muscle memory. $10 per hour for ball machine use.

3️⃣ Footwork Drills: Great tennis starts with great feet. Use cones, ladders, or court lines to work on your split step, lateral movement, and court coverage.

4️⃣ Serve Training: Your serve is the one shot you have complete control over. Use a basket of balls to work on your toss, action, and placement without any pressure.

5️⃣ Self Feeds: Drop-feed or toss balls to yourself to practice specific shots; volleys, groundstrokes, approach shots. Simple, effective, and easy to do anywhere on the court.

Solo sessions are a great way to build the fundamentals that make a real difference when you're back on court with others. πŸ’ͺ

Did you know heat is one of the biggest enemies of your racket?

Here at Domain Tennis we are dreaming for some warmer weather, good tip to remember: Leaving your racket in a hot car; even for an hour, can warp the frame and damage your strings without you even realising it.

Store it somewhere cool and dry, and your racket will last you years longer.

Winter is here in Hobart and that means warming up properly is more important than ever! β„οΈπŸŽΎ

Cold muscles are tight muscles, and tight muscles are injury-prone muscles. Before you even pick up your racquet, we highly recommend you spend at least 5 minutes getting the body moving.

Try this simple warm-up routine:
πŸ”₯ High knees β€” 30 seconds
πŸ”₯ Side shuffles β€” 30 seconds each way
πŸ”₯ Arm circles β€” forward and back
πŸ”₯ Light jog around the court
πŸ”₯ Gentle shadow swings with your racquet

A good warm-up sets you up for a better session and keeps you on the court all winter long. Stay warm, stay moving, and we will see you out there!

If you need some inspiration for drills / warm ups: our adult skills sessions are a great place to learn something new.
