It’s almost time for the Judith Clarke. Hobart’s annual all women’s tournament against RMTC honouring Australia’s greatest ever women’s player.
This year it’s Melbourne’s turn to host (August 1&2) and we’re keen to send up a strong team to battle it out.
The event will feature the Judith Clarke trophy on the Saturday and then a friendly doubles tournament on the Sunday where an HRTC member will partner an RMTC member.

The winner by split decision (2 sets to 1) Maaaaaaaark “the headband” Kelleherrrrrrrrr.
In the longest match of the weekend Mark came up clutch 6/5 5/6 6/4.

The National D Grade final will be held tomorrow at 2pm between top seed Matt Cadle and third seed Mark Kelleher in what will be their 263rd meeting. However it’ll be one of the first times that they meet outside of a 7pm Tuesday night booking. Round 263, FIGHT!

We’re a couple of weeks away from the National D Grade tournament, which puts handicaps 40+ in a showdown to see who reigns supreme.

THE VICTORIAN OPEN

Starting tomorrow the Vic Open will showcase the country’s top real tennis talent and we’ve got three of our own making their way up.

Oli Pridmore, the second seed for the tournament, Sammy Legg and Jackson Pastoor will all be looking to sink their teeth into a very stacked draw.

FIRST FRIDAY DRINKS!

This Friday the club is hosting its first Friday of the month drinks for May and it’s sure to be a ripper! On top of the food, drinks and company we’ll be drawing our raffle for the 2023 World Championship racquet from Camden Riviere and announce the winner of the naming rights to the bells auction.

There is still time to purchase tickets for the racquet or make a bid for the bells so get in quick!
If you’d like to attend, buy raffle tickets or place a bid on the bells please contact the pros and they’ll sort you out.

On Friday the 1st of May we’re raffling off this blacked out bat (floating Cam head not included) that Cam used to defend his world title. So if you’d like to be in the draw get in touch and we’ll put you down for as many tickets as you’d like.
This is open to everyone, not just members of HRTC so if you’re reading this from another club or even country don’t despair, you can still enter.

As well as the racquet we’re also auctioning off naming rights to our winning gallery bells so again if you’d like to place a bid get in touch with the pro’s ASAP.

This weekend we’re playing our class 5 doubles, the event is open to handicaps of 50 and above. We encourage everyone eligible to enter and if you don’t have a partner no worries, the pros can find you one!
