Happy International Dance Day! (for yesterday)💃🏽✨
International Dance Day is special to me because it is also the day I started Kalawa and yesterday marks 2 years ❤️ What began as a small idea has grown into something so special, bringing Sri Lankan dance, culture, and community together here in Hobart.
Over the past two years, we’ve performed at so many wonderful events and shared our culture through classes and workshops. Seeing people experience Sri Lankan culture through traditional dance and music has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life.
To celebrate, here’s a little compilation of videos from classes and performances — from my very first class to our performance just last week ✨ A small glimpse into the journey so far… with so much more still to come 💫
I am so incredibly grateful to everyone who has supported me from the beginning – my parents, my teachers, my friends and my little Kalawa community – I wouldn’t have been able to do this without you🤍
I’m so proud of how far we’ve come in just two years, and even more excited for what’s ahead. Here’s to continuing to share the beauty of Sri Lankan dance with our community for many more years 🇱🇰✨
