Not sure where you'll be on Boxing Day?

Let us steer you into the action.

The Jackson is the only spectator vessel inside the Exclusion Zone for the Rolex Sydney Hobart start. While everyone else picks a spot on the shore and hopes to get good views, you'll be on the water, cannons firing, fleet racing past, close enough to feel it.

Boxing Day. Main Deck. 4 hours. Open bar, canapés, live commentary, 5m screen streaming Channel 9 & Cruising Yacht Club Of Australia's live broadcast.

Just south of Batemans Bay, as the Rolex Sydney Hobart fleet braces for the gauntlet of Bass Strait, a quieter calculation is underway in the town of Eden. It isn't about wind angles or sail changes. It's about spare beds, hire cars, and whether there's enough bacon and eggs for eighteen, or maybe m...

Carlo Borlenghi | A Life Worth a Thousand Pictures

For more than four decades, Carlo Borlenghi looked at the sea through a camera and taught the rest of us how to see it too. The Italian photographer, who has passed away suddenly at his home in Bellano on the shores of Lake Como, was one of sailing's greatest visual storytellers, a man who couldn't swim, by his own admission, yet spent his life chasing boats across every ocean on earth.

Borlenghi's images of the Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race are etched into our collective memory: maxis racing down the Tasmanian coast, spinnakers filling on Boxing Day, the particular light over Sydney Harbour at the start of the world's most famous ocean race. He shot the start, the storms, and the finish line at Constitution Dock across decades of this event, capturing not just yachts but the beauty of ocean racing, all visible in a single frame.

As the sailing world pays tribute to Borlenghi, we wanted to share some of the images that connect him most closely to our own race, a small tribute to this icon who gave the Sydney Hobart some of its most enduring memories.
Grazie di tutto, amico nostro. Buon vento.

Alive & well! 🌊 Two former Rolex Sydney Hobart winners have entered the 2026 Great Race South 🏆🗺️

Returning from the racing circuit in Asia, Alive has set her sights on her third Tattersall Cup trophy after winning Overall honours in 2018 and 2023. A three-peat would put Alive in the exclusive club of three-time winners alongside Freya, Love & War and Ichi Ban.

Christian Beck's LawConnect is back to chase his third Line Honours victory after a close second in the 80th edition. The maxi first beat Comanche in a nail-biting victory in 2023 and again the following year after Comache's retirement in 2024. Can LawConnect pull out all the stops in 2026 and claim another victory?

It’s not surprising that Michael, ‘Spiesy’, Spies entered the 2026 Rolex Sydney Hobart days after entries opened. The race would not be the same without him: the CYCA and SYC member has competed in 47 Sydney Hobarts😮.

This time he will cross the Sydney Harbour start line on board his own boat: a J/160, Sugar, recently renamed Maritimo 160, launched in 2000⛵🌊.

Spies admits to having a penchant for J/160s. Only 32 were built and, according to Spies, “they very rarely come on the market. The J/160s are really sought after, well-engineered boat.”
