The Diet Worked. So Why Did the Weight Come Back?

Have you ever lost the same 8 kilos… only to find them again?
Your body is trying to tell you something VERY important!

Short term compliance is not the same as long term compatibility.

Di knows this better than most.
For more than 50 years, she had tried diet after diet.
And like so many women I work with, what worked for her in her 30s and 40s simply wasn’t working in her 70s.

When we started working together, Di was taking medication for high blood pressure and cholesterol, and her osteoarthritis was becoming increasingly painful.

Just 12 weeks later:
→ 9 kg lost
→ 8 cm off her waist
→ Goal weight of 58 kg achieved

But those numbers aren't the part of Di’s story that excites me most.

She finally understands her body.
Instead of following another generic diet, Di learned how to identify her own individual tolerance to carbohydrate and how to build her meals around what works for her.

Because there is no universal amount of carbohydrate that is right for everybody. Your age, muscle mass, activity levels, hormones and metabolism all matter.

At Dietflex, I often explain it like this . . .

We all have different tolerances to carbohydrate, just as we have different tolerances to the sun.

Finding yours can completely change the way you approach weight loss.

Today, Di has more energy to enjoy her grandchildren, greater confidence and she's back wearing the clothes she loves.

And perhaps most importantly?
After 50 years of dieting, she isn't looking for the next diet.
She has learned how to eat for her body.

Whether you have 8 kilos or 28 kilos to lose, perhaps the question isn't:

“Which diet should I try next?”

Perhaps it's: “What have I never learned about my own body?”
If you've spent years losing and regaining the same weight, DM me TOLERANCE.

I'll explain how I teach people discover their individual carbohydrate tolerance and why it could be the piece of the puzzle you've been missing.

Remember, nothing changes if nothing changes.

One of the biggest ways menopause can blindside us? Eating “healthy” and assuming it should automatically lead to weight loss.
I see this all the time.

Women reach their 50s and 60s doing many of the things they’ve always been told are healthy, yet suddenly, what worked in their 30s and 40s doesn’t seem to work anymore.

So they assume they need to eat less, cut out more foods or live on salads.

They don’t.

One of the principles I teach through Dietflex is that there is no single eating plan that works for everybody.

Our tolerance to carbohydrate is individual, a little like our tolerance to the sun. What works beautifully for one person may be too much, or unnecessarily restrictive, for another.

That’s why this week’s Beef Curry with Vegetables is such a great example of what eating for weight loss can actually look like.

🥩 Beef provides high-quality protein, helping with satiety and the maintenance of muscle mass, increasingly important as we age. It also provides iron, zinc and vitamin B12.

🥕 The vegetables provide fibre, vitamins and minerals, while pumpkin and carrot contribute carbohydrate. They’re not foods we automatically need to fear or eliminate. The question is: how much carbohydrate does your body tolerate while still moving towards your goal?

🌿 Turmeric, ginger, garlic, cumin and coriander deliver loads of flavour, meaning you don’t need to rely on heavily sweetened bottled curry sauces to make healthy food taste good.

And perhaps most importantly? It tastes like dinner, not “diet food.”

That matters, because sustainable weight loss isn’t about finding the most restrictive plan you can tolerate for 6 weeks.

It’s about learning how to eat in a way you can genuinely see yourself enjoying 6 years from now.

That’s how we stop being blindsided by generic health messages and start understanding what actually works for our own body.

What If the Biggest Thing Stopping You Losing Weight… Was a Healthy Eating Myth?

One of the biggest reasons women tell me they've "tried everything" isn't because they lack willpower.

It's because they've been blindsided by decades of health messages that sound right... but don't work for their body.

"Just eat less." "Avoid all fat." "Eat whole grains at every meal."
The problem? One eating plan doesn't work for everybody.

At Dietflex, we teach something very different. Every person has their own carbohydrate tolerance, just as we all have a different tolerance to the sun. When you discover what works for your body, and prioritise protein, weight loss becomes far more sustainable.

That's why this week's Recipe of the Week is one of my favourites: Fisherman's Hot Pot.

It's hearty, comforting and full of flavour, yet most people would never guess it's part of a successful weight loss program.

Why does it work?
🐟 High quality protein from the seafood helps preserve muscle, supports healthy metabolism and keeps you feeling satisfied for longer.
❤️ Omega 3 fats support heart and brain health while helping reduce inflammation.
🥬 A generous serve of vegetables provides fibre, vitamins and antioxidants to nourish your body without relying on highly processed foods.
🍋 Fresh herbs, lemon and spices create incredible flavour naturally, proving healthy food never has to be bland.

The best part?
You don't need to survive on salads or spend hours in the kitchen to lose weight. You simply need the right foods, the right education and a plan that's personalised to your body.

That's exactly why our clients succeed. They don't just receive an eating plan. They learn how to meal plan, cook delicious recipes, understand their body's carbohydrate tolerance, and receive the support and accountability that creates lasting change.

Would you cook Fisherman's Hot Pot this week?

How to Start the Day and Never Felt Hungry.

Have you heard the saying “Breakfast is the most important meal of the day”? It may be an old wives’ tale, or it may be true. The single most important nutrition tip for all meals is to prioritise protein and combine with some healthy fat and low carb veggies (fresh and unprocessed) that your ...
