Fort Fitness Group fitness and Personal Training Hello! I am Imogen, the founder and owner of Fort Fitness. We are so looking forward to working with you.

I am a mother of three and have been in the fitness industry for 14 years. I am a qualified Les Mills, Metafit and freestyle instructor and have certificate 3 and 4 in fitness, certifications in Thump Boxing, Lift for Life, Kettle Step, pre and post natal exercise, group exercise and nutrition for children to name a few. I started Fort Fitness in 2016 and now have 5 amazingly talented and passiona

te instructors working with me. Fort Fitness is not just a gym, it is a family and a community full of love and laughter, where you really can come as you are. At the Fort you get access to incredible worldwide licensed programs with the personal touches that come with being a member at a boutique style gym. At the Fort you will be welcomed with open arms and our team will assist you to move your body and train safely around any limitations, all experience levels and fears or concerns you may have.

Guardian of souls with a clean slate, once more awaiting her next tenants. I love our shed but sitting alone (by choice) with her for the very last time today I realised the essence and magic of the Fort is not in the bricks and mortar, it is in her people 💫💚. Closing the Fort when it was still loved and utilised by a small group of the most amazing and loyal people was the toughest decision I have ever made for my family. I hope the legacy of the Fort will continue touching lives for many years to come and her people will continue to train, laugh, run, dance, drink and swim in the sea together. I will end up teaching again, helping people fall in love with exercise and gently expanding the capacity in which their bodies and brave minds allow them to is who I am. For now, thank you for the last 7 years and for all the love and support this week. The rest is still unwritten … 💚.

We did it. We gave the grand lady on the hill and Fort Fitness the best, most wonderful, colourful and hilarious send off that she deserved. The shed was full of love, noise and laughter. I am bloody proud of all of us. Thank you so much to everyone that came along this morning and who stayed to help after. Not in my wildest dreams did I think the work would be done by early afternoon and that was thanks to all of you. I was so determined to keep my s**t together for our final classes, I had a little wobble when my kids walked in and another when I counted down the final minute of the last class, I was able to be brave because of all of you, thank you ❤️. I can’t quite let go yet, standby for a photo montage from the last 7 years tomorrow and one last sign off tomorrow night 😏. Thank you for today, it was a special one 💚💚💚.

Our Fort

There once was a lady, athletic and tall,
She loved fitness and sport, good at netball,

She focussed her energy, on supporting others,
Becoming a police officer and a devoted mother,

She worked for her dreams, to be reality,
Studied in fitness and became a PT!

Then created a gym, for any and all,
The shed on a hill, what a place to haul,

Heavy weights and ropes, flip tyres and run,
Around chatter and laughter, friendship and fun,

A second home to many, the Fort family,
A place to feel welcome, be who we want to be,

Evolving and growing, with every session,
So many goals smashed, too many to mention,

Over the years, she’s been there for us,
It’s more than the exercise, there is so much,

We’ve learned from the Bob and the friends we’ve made,
Through ups and downs, our Fort has remained,

Now the time has come, to head our own way,
Our spiritual leader, taught us to be brave,

We are prepared for this, we are ready,
To conquer life’s challenges, all and many,

Like a burpee or sprint, lunge or wall-sit,
A sneaky extra round, added last minute,

And all of the maths, what is seven less four?
Pushing past our limits and then some more,

We’ve faced all the challenges, learned not to hide,
We’ll continue to conquer, prosper and thrive,

From the Fort family, the foxes and fellas,
Thank you for everything, for bringing us together,

This is not the end, it’s just the next chapter,
We’re part of the Fort story, connected forever.

Big shoutout to these two hooligans, my brothers ❤️❤️. They are always there for me but over the last few months, around running their own businesses, they have made time for every one of my phone calls, meltdowns, questions, rants and way too many tears. They have helped me step up, guided me and made me laugh. Elliot and Mark, thank you. I am so lucky to have you both on my team, I love you both and hope I have made you proud 💚.

The third and final ever Fort “pretty bloody close to 1k Fort classes” this morning went to one of my favourite ladies in all of the land, Louise 😍💚🙌🏻. Lou has been training with me since I was hiring space at Lindisfarne North Primary and has been a loyal, hard working, very much loved (often quite loud) Fort member and friend to so many Fort foxes ever since. Lou it has been my absolute honour to train you, become your friend, laugh and cry with you. I have been lucky enough to have you wash and braid my hair when I was in sling after sling, listen to hilarious stories about your 3 sons growing up, live vicariously through all your weekend adventures and watch you become a grandmother ❤️. Small business is tough, you know that first hand and having your listening ear, support and knowing peepers keeping an eye on me means more to me than you’ll ever know. Thank you, I will miss seeing you every single week but know we will be seeing each other often and that makes me happy. Congratulations Lou, I love you 💚.

We ARE so lucky 🍀, we will always have the last 7 years of our Fort and it’s been so bloody wonderful and so special 💫 that’s why it’s hard to say goodbye. To my ole mate and cobba, thank you for loving me at my worst. Here’s to having the balls to make tough decisions + me having more time to make you laugh and boss you around. I love you ❤️.

A love letter to Sam Lawson from her Fort after teaching her last Fort class at 6am this morning 💔. Dearest Sammy, I am so proud of myself for poaching you 5 years ago 🤭, I knew the Fort needed you so I cursed when you first said no and tried again the next day until you said YES!!! Sammy, you are such a special human being, you are an amazing mum to your 3 beautiful babes, a loyal and kind friend, an talented athlete and a bloody hard worker. You are brilliant at what you do, you bring the most incredible joy and energy to the gym stage every single class you take and have the ability to park whatever is going on in your day and be 100% present for the people in your class, a skill I’ve always said is paramount to be a brilliant instructor. Your passion and love for what you do is contagious and we are so very lucky to have had you teaching week in and week out for the last five years, especially taking the tough shifts for most of your classes, inspiring members to get out of bed and start their day with you at 6am. Sam thank you so much for coming on this crazy ride with me, I am so grateful to you. I am so sorry our Fort adventure ends here, if only we could keep the doors open with determination and love for what we do alone, you and I would’ve had this covered. You are a bloody legend Sam, the people of the Fort adore you, I love you and look forward to growing into old ladies who lift heavy things together ❤️. Thank you from the bottom of our heart, Im and your Fort 💚.
