Round 1 of Circuit Excel S.A. At Shell V-Power Motorsport Park

Kicked off Saturday morning with qualifying, after a red flag on the out lap and only a short session we got a one lap dash for qualifying, managed to snag P6 out of 22 car grid in trophy class.

Race 1, good clean race but with a mistake on the second last corner on the last lap dropped back to P8. 🤦🏼

Race 2, early start Sunday morning kicking off at 8.30am, without having time for a morning coffee we somehow came home in P8 after struggling all race.

Race 3, was our best of the weekend, new tyres on the car and driver filled with caffeine we had settled in and nearly a mistake free race we worked our way forward with some good clean racing to finish P6 🤙🏻

Finishing the round in P7 and super consistent lap times we’re super keen for the rest of the South Australia season!

What an event at The Bend Shell V-Power Motorsport Park for Circuit Excel S.A. Enduro to finish off the year in Legana Tyres & More Motorsport rocket.

Starting off with practice on Thursday arvo, learning the track and playing with set ups we were semi happy with how the car was, put some new tyres on and tidied up a few things.
Friday morning practice the car wasn’t anywhere near where we wanted it. Both drivers went backwards in times. Really concerning going into qualifying. Tried some new things and the car kept getting better thankfully 👌🏻

Main driver Aaron Ellings qualified p29
Co-driver Dylan Cooper qualified p12.
With two 70 minute enduro’s ahead.

Race 1 starting out of p29, co-driver starting this race, pushing hard, kept out of trouble, going 4 wide into many corners the first few laps, the first stint got us up to p14, unfortunately a safety car came out at the wrong time for us, with the main driver in we kept pushing and ended p22.

Race 2 we had us starting out of p12, main driver starting this race, did a brilliant job keeping the car out of trouble with lap times improving every lap, handing the car to the co-driving early in p22, with a big stint ahead and the field spread out we had a job to do.
Got handed an absolute rocket ship, the car was on point and we hassled! Passing cars most laps, with PB’s late in the race, we climbed our way to p10!

We couldn’t have been happier with this result! with a massive field of 49 entries, we originally aimed for mid pack and to finish p10 is unreal!

A absolute massive thank you to Aaron and Jess Ellings from Legana Tyres & More for trusting me with the rocket, was such a vibe and had the best time!

Series X3 NSW - Hyundai Excel Racing Enduro was a success.
Was an event of two’s in the 222 Excel.

Qualified 2nd
Sprint race 2nd
Enduro 2nd.

Finishing the Round in P2. Absolutely over the moon to be competitive in another state and even more so pushing driver and crew in the heat in an endurance event.
Car was faultless all weekend after all the dramas at Sydney Motorsport Park 3 weeks ago.

First event at One Raceway Shelley track was awesome! Such a cool track. Would highly recommend.

Next stop Shell V-Power Motorsport Park for Circuit Excel S.A. Enduro in 2 weeks time in the Legana Tyres & More Motorsport machine 🤙🏻

With a tough start to the weekend with the gearbox and clutch issues, we ended up getting a new clutch in 10 minutes before qualifying in the morning.

Doing our first hot laps around Sydney Motorsport Park we qualified 15th out of 20. Then we got pinned for just being underweight putting us at rear of grid for race 1 😔
Race 1 - P19 to P16
Race 2 - Had an absolute blast went from P16 to P9! 🤙🏻
Race 3 - Close battles all race and finished P9 nearly side by side with Legana Tyres & More Motorsport across the line.👌🏻

Can’t thank Connor Cooper and his Team for the help and support all weekend! Absolute legends!

Made the trek up to Sydney Motorsport Park for the first time for Series X3 NSW - Hyundai Excel Racing final round.
Practice tonight was good till it wasn’t.
Diff decided to exit the gearbox after only 4 laps.

Smashed a new box in with minutes to spare before practice ended to find the clutch is now slipping under full load. 😑
Early start tomorrow to put install a new clutch and hopefully make qualifying at 9.30am.

Excel Nationals at Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit

Was a tricky weekend for us. With every weather condition thrown at us Saturday and unfortunately we had a spin in practice and touching the wall we weren’t off to a great start.
Thankfully the team and with help from others were were able to get back out there ready for qualifying.

Qualified 11th.
Race 1 - 11th
Race 2 - 11th
Race 3 - 14th
Final - 17th

Unfortunately during race 3 and the final we started to drop on grunt wth fuelng and sensor issues causing others to easily pass us on the straights 😔

Overall we are pretty happy with the results, coming into the weekend we aimed for top 15 out of 41 competitors from all around Australia. 😎
