CHRIS KELSALL - LIFE MEMBERSHIP of Highton Bowls Club.
Hugh Congratulations Chris from all of us at Highton.
Chris joined Highton bowls Club on 13 February 2012.
He quickly became involved in the Club taking on the role of Health and Safety officer in 2015 and continued in this position until 2024. This included maintaining first aid supplies and ensuring the Defibrillator was compliant.
He liaised with the Club’s Safety Sponsor to ensure Emergency Exit Plans were updated and current, along with Warden Awareness Processes.
In 2016 he joined the Men’s Bowls Committee for one year. He also took on the role of Locker Coordinator a position he held for 9 years.
In 2019 Chris became the Barefoot Bowls Coordinator and Bookings officer. A very time-consuming role. He continued in this until 2025. This is a very difficult job making sure we have sufficient bar staff, Barefoot Bowler helpers and setting up the club room to cater for the visitors and client’s needs. Chris would also man the bar for many functions.
In 2020 he became Deputy Director and served on the committee of management in this role for 4 years. One of the main functions of this role was to produce the club handbook. This involved many hours as he would pull information for a club calendar, sponsor advertisements and collate members telephone lists. These items were all in different formats, so he spent many hours completing this task.
In 2024 Chris took on the role of functions Director. This was a newly created position to improve the club’s revenue base. Chris performed this role for 2 years. He has now taken a step back but is still involved with Barefoot bowls and setting of club rooms for numerous functions.
Chris has also been a handy man around the club undertaking many maintenance issues. Major items include Wall Partitions during covid, improve bar security by installing a stronger entrance door to bar, fitted timber to our outdoor furniture obtained during covid, fill in under back stairs to create a storage area. He has willing done many projects.
Due to Chris’s outstanding commitment to the Highton Bowls Club and his willingness to work tirelessly to help run the club. We have nominated Chris Kelsall for life membership of the Highton Bowls Club.
