Please find detailed below the instructions to give your members what they have to complete prior to attending the in person course.
Getting started is really easy.
This guide will take you through everything you need to do to become a referee!
STEP 1: Get Registered
👉 Register on PlayFootball as a QLD Learner Referee: https://rego.prd.letsplayfootball.au/participant/product-details/66196398
Please note:
❗ When completing your registration, please take care with the Working with Children section as your application needs to be confirmed by Member Protection Officer at Football Australia.
❗ If you are under 18, please apply for the Exemption under AGE / OTHER and state reason : “I am under 18 and do not require a Blue Card.”
❗ If you are 18 or over, you must supply your Blue Card
Note that if this is not done correctly, we can not approve the Play Football Registration and have to decline it
👉 Register for the free Learner Referee Package.
👉 Wait for the confirmation email.
👉 Once received, email: [email protected] to request your login credentials.
You need to give them your details as listed below:

STEP 2: Get Learning
👉 Go to etrainu:
https://learn.footballaustralia.com.au/
👉 Select “Learner (Learning Centre Account)”.
👉 Log in using the credentials that Football Australia emailed to you.
STEP 3: Get Training
👉 On your etrainu homepage, go to:
Training Library ➡ Community Referees ➡ View Courses ➡ Laws of the Game ➡ ENROL
✅ Complete all modules and pass the knowledge checks.
STEP 4: Get Your Certificate
👉 On your etrainu homepage, go to:
Skills Passport ➡ Laws Of The Game ➡ Actions ➡ Download Certificate
STEP 5: Complete Your Junior or Senior Football Match Official (JFMO or SFMO ) Modules
👉 On your etrainu homepage, go to:
Training Library ➡ Community Referees ➡ View Courses ➡ Junior or Senior Football Match Official Online components ➡ Purchase
💲 Course Cost: $33.00 (payable upon registration)
✅ Complete all modules and pass the knowledge checks.
STEP 6: Get Enrolled
📋 Now that you have completed your online learning, you can enrol in the in-person event.
👉 On your etrainu homepage, go to:
Training Event ➡ Click the in-person event you wish to enrol to - 27 June at Highfields FC
STEP 7: Get Started
⚽ Get Access to Appointments on Squadi with Football Queensland as a First Year Referee.
📆 2026 Referee Access to Squadi and PlayFootball is now open.
😍 Player and Referee Dual Participation Discount:
👉 If you are already a player or a referee on Squadi for the season, then automatically to your second FQ payment:
👉 If you join as a player first, you will pay the full player FQ fee. When you then complete your 2026 referee access through Squadi, the discounted referee fee will be applied automatically.
👉If you join as a referee first, you will pay the full referee fee. When you later join as a player, the discount will be applied to your player costs.

👉 Ensure you have completed your PlayFootball registration for refereeing with the appropriate club or branch.
👉 You can not access the Learning Centre until this registration is processed.
👉 If you don’t have a club to register with, search “Learner” in the Club Registration Search and select your state to register.
