TRANSFORMATION POST!
As starts an 8-week , it's a great time to share mine!
I used to be 95kg and a high body fat %. I was self-conscious of my weight and wouldn't take my shirt off often. This was only a couple of years ago before my passion for fitness!
Now I am 77.6kg and at my best ever body fat % of 6.7%! I look better, but more importantly- feel better!
I attribute this change to 3 things:
1. A focus on cutting out white sugar and fixing my around foods that my body doesn't digest well.
2. Consistency in the - 3-4 days of strength training
3. - I have been stuck between 13%- 9.7% for months, but since starting living the workouts, I've shaved off another 3% and feel amazing. So glad I tried my first class only 2 months ago and now I look forward to every !

Ran a complimentary PT session on Tuesday for a now current client, and today he says to me:

"I've had back pain for a year but it's been gone the past couple days after our session!"

Now getting him fit and ready for the Australian Army through connecting him to his glutes and teaching how to engage his core and back muscles.

This is why I love my job!

*THE SCALE*

I had a client today say that the scale is "not her friend". She has only lost 1kg over 2-3 weeks and this is testing her!

The scale is easily one of my least favorite short term measures of progress.

Why? It's just a number. Some of the leanest, strongest, fittest women I know weigh more than some women that are overweight. Muscle weighs more than fat, so 'toning up' to look and feel better may not impact the scale the go down, even if you're dropping body fat!

Scroll right and you will see results from a Body Composition scan I did a couple months ago. I gained 1kg, but I looked and felt better.

How? I gained 1.7kg of muscle, but my body fat went down 2.7%! If I were judging my attempt to lean out by using a scale, gaining 1kg would be put down as a failure.

That's why it is SO important to use other indicators to track progress towards a goal. These can be :

1. Body composition scan
2. Weight to hip ratio
3. Before/after photos
4. Clothing size

🎧RECOMMENDED HEALTH & FITNESS PODCASTS!🎧

Over the past year, I've really focused on upskilling and learning more about the industry I'm in to make myself a better trainer. Whether a coach, trainee, or just generally into health or fitness, tuning in to these podcasts can help turn your commute or free time into further education!

My favorites are:

1. MIND PUMP-
-Adam, Sal, Justin, and Doug run this one. Episodes are half entertainment/current events and half fitness/health Q&A. This makes for a great blend and education and entertainment! They cover points applicable to both coaches and gym users.

2. JOE DEFRANCO'S INDUSTRIAL STRENGTH SHOW-
-Joe is a legend in the Sports Performance industry and has a wealth of knowledge that he delves into in incredible detail. Podcasts can include covering athletic performance, joint health, posture, and even specific workout ideas and new exercises. Very active on social and I use many of his teachings and exercises daily for myself and my clients. Suited more to athletes, older populations, and strength athletes, but some episodes apply to general population too!

3. THE JOE ROGAN EXPERIENCE-
-A newer one that I have started listening to but is incredibly popular! Joe interviews experts in different fields and has an awesome energy. Great to mix it up if you're interested in learning about different fields/topics. Check out his interview with Elon Musk!

4. THE TONY ROBBINS PODCAST-
-Great for emotional, personal, and business development. Podcasts are diverse and incredibly powerful. Highly recommend.

5. RENEGADE RADIO WITH JAY FERRUGGIA-
-A newer one to my playlist that I haven't gotten into just yet but have many episodes downloaded and ready to go!

6. FOUNDMYFITNESS-
-Rhonda covers in depth research onto health phenomena and I'm particularly interested in her studies into the benefits of sauna use. Added to the playlist only a couple days ago!
