It was time for some new handles, and our usual supplier couldn’t get us anymore hickory ones.

So we made our own!

Big shoutout here to for kindly letting us use his workshop.

Make sure you come and check out Frank’s awesome timber work. He’s always got heaps of awesome stuff in stock, and he makes custom things to order as well.

Hickory is often the timber of choice for axe handles, but Spotted Gum is highly regarded as an excellent Australian material for the job.
It definitely feels denser than hickory, and harder to work with the tools.

It’s going to be very interesting to see how it holds up to a hard life of being thrown!
