Adam Banks Motorsport - The Duminator

Adam Banks Motorsport - The Duminator We are a small speedway race team from Hobart Tasmania, we complete in the Tassie Six Sedan class at all the states tracks at Hobart, Carrick and Latrobe

15/11/2025

Been a bit quiet here for a while, but plans and motions are in place to get the Duminator back out in the near future, to do that we’re looking for some sponsorship partners to help with the costs of a little freshen up in the horsepower department most likely just rings and bearings, we’re about to begin, to find the ponies we’d lost.

Anyone wanting to partner with us for this season and the next season can contact me via messenger or my personal Facebook if you wish, any contributions big or small, monetary, services or goods to assist us in this are appreciated.

My Budget is super tight, and your ongoing support will ensure we have a competitive package going forward!

Thanks in advance
Adam

** EDIT** the car has been repaired and is ready to go, just the budget has been used up repairing the damage and getting new parts, that there’s no budget left to finish the season!

After some careful consideration, It’s with a heavy heart that we announce that we are packing away the T16 Duminator Racecar for the remainder of season 23/24.

Anyone who knows me knows that this decision has not come lightly, but a number of factors have made this the only plausible decision I could make at this time.

One factor is budget, after some considerable damage and the costs associated with that damage, eg rim ($900+), suspension parts ($800ish), tyres x 3 ($280 each), a hub, rotor, calliper ($1000) , miscellaneous bar work and tin work ($200), that’s together with needing another drum of methanol to complete the season ($400) and the engine being extremely tired and lacking power, and the cost of fuel to get to race meetings and our tow vehicle needing some attention (poor little Territory) Our little team with the support of our sponsorship partners has exhausted its budget and then some, it’s just not financially possible to continue at this point.

Another factor is time, with work and family commitments at this time of year I’m finding I don’t have the spare time for the car to do it or myself justice.

To our sponsorship partners, we thank you, your support and assistance is invaluable, and we will be back next season with all your names on our car, and getting the greater speedway family to support your businesses.

It’s a s**t feeling not being able to defend the Cannonball or run in the state title given we’ve had a good showing in them in recent years, but it is what it is.

Should circumstances change I may change my mind, but we’ll see.

Last night we ventured to Cranes Combined Carrick Speedway for the Boxing Night Extravaganza!

Having been a few weeks between races we were keen to get after it and put in a good night, which didn’t go to plan at all.

Heat 1 started out of 5, missed the start, settled into 6th until a stoppage 3 laps in I was sent infield after. RR shock came apart and deposited the spring onto the race track………resulting in a DNF 🙄

Heat 2 Started out of 4, had good pace for a bit, tried the bottom on a very challenging track with some big holes in places, lost a few spots, then spun out after simply trying too hard, going rear for the restart I finished in 7th 🤦🏼‍♂️

Final I started out of 9, track had really gone away after the Super and Sprintcar finals and was extremely challenging, dropped to 10th, but found some rhythm for a few laps and started working my way forward, after having a spin to avoid a slower car I rent rear, picked up a few places, then just settled in, ultimately came home with a 5th place according to official results.

At the minute I am struggling with the car and I am certainly not where i want to or should be and that’s showing with some ordinary results of late.

Hopefully we can turn some of that fortune around when we run as a support class for the Super Sedan Tassie Trail through Januarys Month of Money.

Again thank you to our sponsorship partners, your help and support is greatly appreciated, and remember to support those who support us.

Here’s our weekend recap from AutoKlene Hobart Raceway after a few days to let the dust settle and have some time to process what’s been a testing and emotional 2 weeks for the sport as a whole.

Heat 1, starting out of 12 in a 13 car field was going to be a test, but we threw a set up at the car we know usually works early in the night and by bloody oath did it work, managing to pick up a few spots and sneaking into 6th place in the line.

Heat 2, starting on pole, the track had gone away quite considerably and was very slick to say the least, after a couple of complete re starts, we managed to get away, Mat Crawford getting the jump on me initially as I slotted into 2nd, after another restart it was time to pounce, sticking the nose of the Gen5 Duminator up the inside coming out of turn 2, we sat side by side and didn’t touch for the next 2-3 laps (which is great, it’s nice to race with a bloke knowing he’s not gonna drive through you) before I got the edge and pulled away to get the win.

We didn’t get a final as Unfortunately as I’m sure you’ve all seen in the news, papers and on social media, the meeting was shut down after a very serious accident in another division, our thoughts and prayers go out to the Ellston family at this tough time.

Next stop is Cranes Combined Carrick Speedway on Friday night for ANOTHER try at running our state title, fingers crossed we can get some good results now the cars back to its former self and go a little better than last years 5th place!

Thankyou to those who help us make this happen

Wrap up from Last Night, we made the journey to Cranes Combined Carrick Speedway, was a glorious day!

Heat 1 started on pole and got away lead for 7laps till I got caught up behind a group of 3-4 lapped cars, needed the gap to open up and would have possibly got the win, but wasn’t meant to be, ended up being given 3rd as race was declared after I was unloaded by a lapped car.

Heat 2 started out of 12, struggled for a few laps but eventually came home 5th!

Final started out of 8, got to 7th in first lap, held that for about 6 laps, but switched from bottom to the top to see if the line was better suited but spun, went to the back for the restart, fought back up to 8th and ended up 7th at the end!

Results might not suggest an overly successful night in the grand scheme of things, but learning a lot about what works for me and the car and what doesnt.

Cheers to Damian Shepherd and Brandon King for being my pit bi***es for the evening, and to the cheer squad on the hill Ange Banks, Kaili Kane and BonBon Van Veen and the tribe of children!
