South Gippsland Regional Council, Korumburra Training Facility

A big one to wrap up for South Gippsland Regional Council. A five lane outdoor facility at Korumburra designed to serve both cricket and soccer, covering 18.6m x 36m with enough room for a full run up within the facility itself.

The multi court space is made up of four club lanes plus one public lane, all topped with a full soft netting. Retractable dividing lanes with dedicated storage lock boxes mean the facility can be opened right up or broken into individual lanes depending on what's on.

The surface is SUPER SHIELD 10mm non-directional synthetic grass with both cricket and soccer line marking, making it a genuinely multi-use space. Black PVC coated chain mesh encloses the club lanes, full chain mesh for the public lane, and black rubber across the back of the facility to protect the mesh from cricket balls.
A well thought out brief from the council and a great result for the Korumburra community.

Just completed a full outdoor cricket facility build for Keira Cricket Club. Five lanes on a 30m x 18m concrete slab, fully enclosed with galvanised chain mesh around the perimeter and five double gates. All posts were positioned externally to keep the space open and flexible for multi-use and cricket drills. Inside, four retractable soft netting dividers allow the lanes to be split or opened up as needed, and a soft netting roof across the entire area means no balls escaping regardless of what's happening on the pitch.

Black rubber runs 18m down each side and along the back of each lane, and the project also included tree removal and drainage works to get the site ready from the ground up. A solid build from start to finish.

Great to be back working with the team at Bond University on another netting upgrade. We originally installed their behind goal netting, and this time around they came back to replace the old AFL netting and ditch the removable pulley system in favour of a cleaner, more reliable fixed setup. 30m wide x 9m high and built to last.

Round 3 is currently open and closes 24 May 2026, with grants of up to $20,000 available, and behind goal netting is specifically listed as an eligible item where there is a demonstrated safety concern. Bangalow Cricket Club has a new facility ready for play, made possible through the Australian Cricket Infrastructure Fund secured via Cricket NSW.

Gabba provided a full facility design to meet Cricket Australia guidelines, working closely with the club and council to establish their requirements. 2 enclosed lanes for club use and 1 lane open to the public. As a rural club, local contractors were engaged for the concrete and fencing works, supported by Gabba Project Management throughout.

Gabba installers completed the facility with non-directional green and beige TEST 10mm synthetic grass surfaces, soft netting within each lane, perimeter netting inside the chain mesh to absorb ball impact, a retractable dividing net, and a full roof enclosure.

A great result for a rural community club, and proof that the right grant funding and project support can deliver a professional standard facility anywhere in Australia.

Brisbane Super Kings - 3 Lane Outdoor Facility (Brisbane)

Another great local project completed for Brisbane Super Kings, delivering a fully enclosed 3-lane outdoor training space designed for safety, durability, and maximum usable area.

Scope highlights:
• Full concrete slab: 10.8m x 25m
• No internal posts - safer play and the ability to open up the entire space
• Green + Hybrid non-directional training surfaces
