Aikido Shudokan A traditional Martial Arts taught by world class instructors. With Dojo in Coburg, Bentleigh East and Research. The Aikido Shudokan was established in 1980.

Aikido Shudokan was the first Yoshinkan style dojo in Australia, founded by Joe Thambu Shihan in 1980, and has schools in Heidelberg West, Mulgrave and Albury, teaching men, women and children. The style of Aikido is a dynamic and self-defence effective system of throwing, joint-locks, strikes and pinning techniques.

We are excited to welcome Mark Hadiarja Sensei (6th Dan) from Aikido Shudokan Indonesia to Melbourne for a special two-day seminar on 11–12 July at our Coburg dojo.

Joining Mark Sensei on the mat will be Fulori Smith Sensei (5th Dan) from Aikido Shudokan Melbourne.

This seminar is a fantastic opportunity to train with one of the senior instructors in the Aikido Shudokan organisation and deepen your understanding of Aikido principles, movement, connection, and technique.

Yoshinkan training has always been about more than technique. It’s about pushing through discomfort, supporting each other, and developing a strong spirit through consistent hard work and practice.

Huge respect to these students putting in extra Sunday training time to sharpen their basics, challenge themselves, and continue the pursuit of budo together 👊

We will be running a Sunday morning hajime class on the third Sunday of every month, for students looking to push themselves, train hard, improve their fitness and build their spirit. open to 7th kyu and above. Sign up sheets will be at the front desk.
