Another awesome week at Grounded Krav Maga
Got into the World Cup spirit with some soccer kicks to the player on the ground on Monday and dealing with multiple attackers, and then moved into standing and mounted chokes on Thursday.
Great turnout from our crew and some very realistic scenarios that showed how difficult it can be to deal with a bigger attacker. We don’t offer magic solutions, but we do give you some solid options to use in your toolkit if we end up in a bad situation.

Just a reminder that our Grounded Kids Program returns on Monday, 27 July, and we’re looking forward to welcoming everyone back for another great term.

Monday was about mind games; how do we change the flow and disrupt the patterns. Violence often happens at conversational range and through dialogue, deception and distraction, the upper hand can be gained. No reason why we can’t use it first, right?
We also got consciously confused and threw tennis balls at each other, and that was fun 🤣 awesome lesson team! Cheers, Trav

Most kids’ self defence programs are built around belts and routines.
We’re not that.
At Grounded, we’re building real confidence. The kind that shows up at school, at home, out in the world. Staying calm under pressure. Using their voice. Knowing what to do when something feels off.
That’s the actual goal. The physical skills are just how we get there.

Great turnout for the teens this week during school holidays, understanding how to disengage from grabs and when to actively provide more pressure. Every response needs to be in context, and we teach our teens when it’s time to up the ante for their safety

Finished the week with a solid striking session. Everything was on the attack, and that was intentional.

A lot of people think you need to wait until you’ve been hit before you can respond. We don’t think that’s a great idea.

Real self-defence happens well before a punch is thrown. But if it gets to that point, you might as well be the one who starts the conversation. 👊
