The Bosco Family is devastated at the passing of our much loved Club Secretary, Lisa Christey.

Lisa was taken from us far too soon on the 18th May after an intense battle with Lung Cancer.

The Braves have always been a huge part of Lisa’s life. Her father, Col, was one of our founding members and her brother was in the very first Bosco team. Some of Lisa’s earliest memories were of her being by her dad’s side during games, having fun at Club Christmas parties and attending presentation days. She also played for the Club in one of our early softball teams.

Lisa came back to the Club as soon as her eldest daughter, Jordi, was old enough to play and continued her involvement when her two younger children, Layla and Nash, also joined. Her partner, Glenn along with Jordi also coached one of our Teeball teams this past season.

After managing several teams, Lisa was elected Club Secretary in 2022 and remained in that position until very recently.

Bosco was not just a baseball Club to Lisa. It signified family, friendship and a deep connection to her family’s legacy. Her passion and commitment to Bosco were undeniable. She dedicated many hours helping to run the Club, organising Club events such as our Try Baseball days and Junior presentations and attending working bees. Her efforts were always greatly appreciated as was her wonderful sense of humour and jovial personality. You could always count on Lis for a laugh and for the right contact to carry out a task or solve any problem. The Committee knew if we needed someone, Lis would always “know a guy” or “know a woman” and all we would have to do is mention her name and Bosco Baseball.

Lisa’s love for the Club, her rich sense of history and the unique connection to our Club’s past, present and future made Lisa a special part of our Club.

Lisa will be greatly missed, not only by the Committee but by all Club members who had the privilege and the honour to know her. Her smiling face will forever be in our memories and her generous spirit will also be in our hearts.

Our thoughts are very much with Glenn and the kids and both Lisa and Glenn’s extended family. They are and always will be part of our Bosco family.

A memorial will be held for Lisa at 2pm on Thursday 4 June in The Founders Room, Wanda Surf Club. Please feel free to wear your Bosco shirts or anything Bosco blue to let Lisa’s family know we are there for them and to celebrate Lisa’s great love for our Club.

What a fantastic feature on women’s baseball in the Sutherland Shire! ⚾️

We loved seeing our Club’s Treasurer featured in the video alongside the incredible work being done to grow the women’s game locally.

Thank you to Simon Kennedy – Member for Cook for shining a light on the players, volunteers and clubs helping women’s baseball thrive in our community.
