U14 Premiership!!

Yesterday morning saw the U14 team get the job done to be crowned premiers for the season against Vermont.

With 241 on the board, Vermonts chase got off to a good start before Ryder Hudson got the first wicket off a solid catch from Louis Keath on the boundary. 1/84 became 2/84 2 balls later with a great run out from Louis with Harry getting the 3rd wicket shortly after.

Vermont then built a strong partnership continuing to go at the run rate with the game right in the balance. Summer would then dismiss the set batsmen on his 50th ball and the wickets began to tumble to see Vermont go from 3/163 to 180 all out.

Harry Thomas finished with 4/16 off 7.5 in a great bowling effort with Sammy Hyndman 1/12 off 7 another key contributor with Louis Keaths fielding incredible to watch from the sidelines.

Well done to everyone in the team. The improvement across the year has been incredible to watch and there is no doubt a bright future in front of all these kids.

Special shout out to Harry Thomas for winning the man of the match with his 4 key wickets.

Well done to all involved

Weekend Wrap Up!

With the senior season coming to a close we are happy to end on a high with the 4s coming home with the premiership cup. Great reward for effort for the players in the team as they have put the work in all season. Unfortunately the top 3 grades werent able to make it this far but motivation for next season with steps taken in the right direction and definitely building blocks in place as we look for long term sustained success.

Our focus now turns entirely to the juniors with the U14/3 team batting first on day 1 with Louis Keath standing up when it matters most making 51 off 42 balls opening the batting. Him and Taylor Caldicott were able to have a 96 run opening stand which set the team up brilliantly. Contributors across the board with 8 batsmen crossing double figures meant we closed the innings after 50 overs on 241.

A very competitive total but Vermont did chase 222 in the semi final so the game is far from over. A strong bowling effort it required to ensure victory. So if your free next Saturday morning at 8:15 get down and support the team as they look to make it our 3rd premiership for the season and for 9 of the players a 2nd premiership this year. Another great stat, as well as back to back U14 flags for 5 of them.

Well Done all

PREMIERSHIP #2!!!!

Congrats to our 4th XI who yesterday defeated St Andrew’s to be crowned champions!!

In what was a great game we batted first with Danny and Sammy Hyndman having a great opening stand with Sam making 34 and Danny making 50*. The innings would continue with Lee Caldicott (17) Taylor Caldicott (14) keeping the scoreboard ticking but a mini collapse meant Danny was able to return to the crease and finish on 62* giving us a more than competitive total of 169.

Nate Caldicott and Sammy Hyndman opened the bowling with tight bowling keeping the runs low before Summer Caldicott got the initial breakthrough. It was then Mika Kerst who stole the show taking 4 wickets to reduce St Andrew’s to 5/60. Louis Keath would then pick up 2 wickets as would Lee Caldicott as Simon Caldicott finished with 3 great catches as St Andrew’s ran out of steam to finish 30 runs short.

An outstanding effort for the team lead by Danny Hyndman to go through the season and end it in such great fashion. With 7 of the boys playing in the U14/3 team and 1 in our U16 it shows the future of the club is bright with most games the kids bowling 80% of the overs with even in the granny the juniors bowling 30/36 overs. This is only possible due to the sustained guidance by senior players Simon and Lee Caldicott, Brad Reid, Tom Robinson, Pete Nolan and Danny throughout the year is why they are able to keep making great strides in their game.

To Cap it all off well done to Mika Kerst on receiving the Man of the match award for his 4 game changing wickets to rip through the St Andrew’s top order!!

Well done on a great season everyone!!

Go Bloods ❤️🤍❤️🤍

Well this happened over the weekend!

The 5th XI are the first premiers of the season and what a way to do it. Facing off against the previously undefeated Vermont we bowled first and an all round tight bowling effort highlighted by 4 wickets from boom recruit Tyson Henry and 3 from Sammy Anderson saw Vermont restricted to 9/172 off 36 overs.

In reply the innings was off to a less than ideal start losing 3 quick wickets but a grand partnership of 120 from Sammy Anderson (53*) and Bailey Rutley (51*) saw us settle the ship before Jeremy Newsome (20) Liam Warner (8*) and Alex Simmons (14*) hit the winning runs in outstanding fashion.

A great moment for the club and super proud of all the lads who made it happen throughout the year!!

A special mention to Sammy Anderson who picked up the best on ground medal for his heroics with both bat and ball.
