Menopause meal plan!

Most women will have googled it, asked about it, was told about it by the next influencer.

What you dont want to hear, is that there isnt a perfect Menopause plan.

Every woman will experience Menopause different, their symptoms, duration and the implications on their health, energy, body and future plans

So no there isnt a perfect plan, but there is a foundational approach to your nutrition that is essential to improving and maintaining your health, energy and body as you navigate Menopause.

There are certain things that are a must:
1. Protein intake
2. Fibre intake
3. Wholefoods
4. Reduce inflammatory foods/drinks (personal)
5. Calorie deficit (if fat loss is a goal) otherwise, focus on appropriate intake

Most women haven't managed all 5 of these yet, and their desperate, so they want a perfect plan.

But like most things, it doesn't exist.

Just a foundation, a lifestyle and a priority.

And thats what ALL women need.

Women can do fun things!

Women over 40 are capable of doing scary things!

This woman, just says bring it on....

Today I took part in a birthday gift from last year and it was so much fun, even better that I didnt throw up haha (those that know me understand)

Reminder: Dont let anyone or anything hold you back from doing something scary or hard.

Change is scary, adventure can be scary, challenging yourself can be scary.

But feel the fear and jump anyway!

Its my birthday!!

I turned 45....and I want to lead by example.

Every birthday I reflect on the past 12 months and ask myself...."Am I happy with how I feel, look and am living?"

This year its a HUGE ✅️✅️✅️ in each category.

This is my philosophy and coaching outcome for every woman over 40 that I work with and wants the same.

For them to say I can confidently say I FEEL GREAT, LOOK GREAT AND I LIVE GREAT!

Not one without the others, but all 3.

And it is totally within your grasp.

BIRTHDAY workout!

Thanks to those who joined in by offering up exercise suggestions on my story last night.

45 minute time cap, cause I'm now 45!!.

I dont do workouts like this very often, I dont need to, but it is kind of fun to see what I am still capable of.

All these movements show I have strength and endurance in functional movements. Getting down, up, picking things up, putting them down, single leg stability, core strength, glute and hip strength, heart health!

I am however going to need a EPSOM salt bath, massage and sleep tonight!

And maybe tomorrow, and the next day hahahaha.

Rest day tomorrow!

STOP SCROLLING.

Can you hang from a bar for 30 seconds?

It might sound too simple to matter, but hanging from a bar is one of the easiest ways to work on something that becomes increasingly important after 40: strength and function.

Why?

✔️ Improves grip strength — one of the strongest markers of healthy ageing

✔️ Strengthens your hands, wrists, shoulders and upper back

✔️ Helps maintain shoulder mobility and overhead movement

✔️ Can reduce stiffness from hours spent sitting at a desk or in the car

✔️ Builds the foundation for pull-ups and other upper body strength exercises

✔️ Challenges your body using nothing but your own bodyweight

Most women focus on the scales, calories and cardio.

Meanwhile, they're losing strength, muscle and confidence in what their body can actually do.

Being able to hang from a bar won't magically fix menopause, melt belly fat or add years to your life.

But maintaining strength, grip strength and physical function as you age is one of the best investments you can make in your future self.

Start with 5-10 seconds.

Build to 30 seconds.

Then see if you can go longer.

My Mum is amazing. I am so grateful for her and I love what she has taught me, its a big part of why I am who I am.

But as a parent, I appreciate that all we want is the best for our kids, we want them to grow up having learnt from our experiences and to build a life on their own.

Each generation learns from the past and we ask, what do we want to pass on and what needs to change to offer better opportunities.

For me, I look at the generations of women before us that didnt have what we have now, and they did the best they could.

When it comes to women's health, we have made some huge steps forward (still many more to come).

We just need to take those steps and keep moving forward.

I want to do what I can to help change my generations outcomes and then teach the next generation to take this lead and run with it

Biggest lesson you need to lean into so far....

• Focus on getting strong, not skinny!

Doing this helps with:
• Muscle growth and strength, reducing risks of falls, injuries and increased stability and independence + more energy, faster metabolism, better bone density, improved hormone regulation, sleep like a queen, being actively involved in life.

Dont be a STATISTIC.

Here are just some of the health risks to women over 35, that INCREASE as we move through menopause.

The good news!

Every risk listed, has a counter measure you can implement to reduce or eliminate being a statistic.

Its never to late!

Regardless of your age, whether you are pre, peri or post menopause, you can take back your life and body.

The truth! It sounds simple in theory, yet so many women are still struggling to do the basics.

Not because they dont know they should, but there are other factors that make it a little more challenging.

So here are my tips:

1. Have patience, its going to take longer than you think

2. Its a lifestyle change, not a diet or challenge. What you do, has to be something you do for the rest of your life

3. Get strong, get a simple, yet progressive strength training program, that you can lift heavy, and build muscle mass and bone density

4. Change the way you look at meals, you are now all about protect, build and nutrients. Sprinkled with a little of life's enjoyments

5. Learn to say NO, if it or they (you know who I am talking about) no linger serve a purpose to you or get in the way of you FEELING GREAT, LOOKING GREAT and LIVING GREAT, then saying NO will be non negotiable.

BONUS TIP: Sleep! Protect it, as best you can. Aim for the same bed and wake times, this is HIGH PRIORITY, more than the dishes, folding up or that NETFLIX series.

I coach women to build the above foundations into their life so they can FEEL GREAT, LOOK GREAT and LIVE GREAT.

CRAVINGS!

We all them, they dont go away. But they can be managed.

Cravings are just information, sent between your brain, body, through hormone signalling and function.

You could be having physical, behavioural or emotional, or to be honest all 3 at once.

I have personally worked hard on identifying my cravings and what they are telling me. It isnt easy or comfortable at times, especially when working on body composition change.

But when you start to acknowledge and have awareness around what they are and what it is telling you, then it is far easier to action a different path or to sit with the uncomfortable feeling and let it pass.
