Last weekend our Under 6 Magpies took on the CDP Roosters in much more favourable conditions this weekend and put together another entertaining performance in their final game of the season.

Ted Wythes and Xavier Moulds continued their try-scoring feats, with both players finding the line on most occasions they handled the ball. Beau Hudson and Waylon McRae were not to be outdone, producing some great runs and spectacular diving efforts to find the try line and bring the crowd to their feet. Amelia Osmond used her speed brilliantly throughout the game, regularly getting Hay on the front foot, scoring some blistering tries, and working hard in defence to chase down tags. Brock Hyde made plenty of strong charges through the middle of the field and got down and dirty in defence, throwing himself into some excellent diving tag attempts. Sylvie Stokes started the game on fire, scoring a try with her very first touch. As the game went on, she was just as happy encouraging her teammates and enjoying being part of another great team performance.

Another fantastic effort from our youngest Magpies to finish off the season, who continue to show plenty of improvement, enthusiasm, and enjoyment each week. Weโ€™re already looking forward to seeing what they can achieve next season!

Last weekend our Under-7s tackle-ready team took on the Yenda Blueheelers for our final game of the season. The home team started strongly, but our team soon settled into their work.

Rohan Taylor and Rueben Moulds got through a mountain of work in defence and contributed strongly in attack with powerful running.

Ava Morrison has been a great addition over the last few weeks and looks right at home in the tackle form of the game. She split the defence on many occasions and was rewarded with her own tries on the back of her hard running.

Rueben Stokes was dynamic with the football and impressed with sharp dummy-half work, whilst pocket rockets Colby and Archie had the Yenda side looking for answers with their speed and footwork.

Brax Low continued his great form into the game and produced many length-of-the-field tries through his balanced and powerful running.

It was a great team effort to close out our 2026 season. All players should be proud of their improvement over the season, and thanks must go out to parents and committee members for making the season a success.

The U10s took on the CDP Roosters in their final game of the season, finishing the year with another fantastic performance. Hay put everything they have learned throughout the season into practice and proved far too strong for the Roosters. Every player contributed, with strong defence and excellent line speed a feature throughout the game.

On a dry track, the players enjoyed the freedom to move the ball and were confident to push the pass, with their willingness to back themselves regularly rewarded with some great tries. Their final three games have arguably been the teamโ€™s best performances of the season, and it has been fantastic to see the growth and improvement in the playersโ€™ skills, confidence, and understanding of the game.

A huge thank you to all our players and families for their support throughout the year. Attendance at both games and training has been outstanding and is a real testament to the passion and dedication of the families involved. A special thank you to Simon Bunyan, Jaylen Dixon, Ben McRae, and Charlie Wythes for their support, advice, and contribution throughout the season.

It has been a fantastic year for our U10s, and we are already looking forward to another strong season in 2027!

Today, the under 11s clashed against CDP in Yenda. A big thank you to my five girls who travelled to play. Also, a massive shout-out to the four under 10 boys who, after playing their game, put their hands up to help us out. Jarvis Stokes, Beau Garner, Nate McKenzie, and Darby Wythesโ€”without you boys, we wouldnโ€™t have been able to take the field. I cannot thank you enough.

In the first half, Norah Green crossed early for a try, only for it to be disallowed. She also made numerous breaks down the line. The girls showed the boys how to tag, with Zoey Hurle all over the field and being the top tagger of the day. Jordan Clark was impressive in dummy half, making some quick breaks through the defence. Eden Payne was perfect in attack, running as support and always being in the right spot. Milani Payeโ€™s kicking was again on show today, putting pressure on CDP and forcing them to make mistakes.

In the second half, our team kicked into another gear, with the boys helping us move up together and chase kicks. Our blended team worked as one and CDP werenโ€™t quite sure what was happening. CDP were only able to score one try this half. Darby stepped through their defence and ran away for a half-field-length try.

Final score: CDP 24 โ€“ Hay 4.

The score does not in any way reflect todayโ€™s game; this was our best game of the season. The boys brought out the best in the girls, and the game was very enjoyable for all to watch. Again, thank you boysโ€”our team is very grateful for your sportsmanship.

We have one more game to go this coming weekend. Weโ€™re playing in the grand final against Lake Cargelligo. Girls, if you believe, youโ€™re already halfway there.

Yesterday we played our final game of the season against the Leeton Vikings. It was a very physical game and one of the best this season, with Hay scoring 11 tries to Leeton's 2. The team defended extremely well, holding out a powerful and tough Leeton side.

There was some great work all around from Freddie Schiller and Dayon Taylor, both scoring some excellent tries. Isaac White showed great defensive skills and was involved in almost all tackles today. He continued to push off the line, giving Leeton no room to run, and demonstrated he was a great team player by sharing the ball around, ensuring his teammates had plenty of runs in their last game.

Caleb Hudson and Beau Harrison had another fantastic game, running the ball extremely well. They both laid a great platform for the team. Nick Arduino, Harper Miller, and Indi Weymouth continued to play well out on the edges with some quick pace.

This week, we had two players of the match. First was Kyle Osmond. Kyle gave it his all, trying to make every tackle and had some great runs pushing through the defence. His efforts at training have shown on the field. Second was Kenna Weymouth. Kenna had some impressive runs up the middle of the field and on the edges, with each run forcing Leeton to work hard to tackle her. In defence, she fronted up and gave it her all, trying to make as many tackles as possible.

What a great season we've had! We wrapped up the season with a physical and highly competitive game. This was a fantastic way to finish!

Tries:
Freddie 4, Dayon 3, Isaac 1, Beau 1, Indi 1, Kyle 1

Our players featured across both tackle and League Tag teams and performed strongly throughout the day. It was particularly pleasing to see so many of our more experienced players showing great leadership by supporting and encouraging those who are newer to the game.

Days like this are a fantastic opportunity for students to enjoy rugby league and League Tag, and after the success of yesterday, we look forward to hopefully welcoming plenty of new Junior Magpies in Season 2027!

Also lending a hand on the day were current Magpies first grader Ryan Curtis and Under 16s League Tag player Marley Sorensen, who assisted with refereeing, while current Junior Magpies assistant coach Jaylen Dixon supported the Hay Public School teams with coaching throughout the day.

A great day for Hay rugby league and fantastic to see our Magpies contributing both on and off the field! ๐Ÿ–ค๐Ÿค
