Hi all, I’m excited to launch our new brand F8 Squash!

I’m so looking forward to what the next chapter is and thankful to everyone who has supported us along the way. We’ve grown from just me, to having a team of 12 coaches now across two venues. From June 1 we’ll have a fresh look, new methodology and a professional set up that we hope will shaikh up the squash scene 😉

We’ve felt for a while that measuring squash ability and progression isn’t as simple as just looking at your win/loss or a ranking number. You just can’t get a complete picture of performance or tailor a development plan just by looking at SportyHQ. It can be frustrating to work hard and not see that number moving. Nor does it clarify what you should focus on to make that next step.

Sometimes it’s as simple as correcting a movement flaw or improving core strength so you aren’t over reaching or over running. Maybe you’re lacking court awareness or the game plan to take that next step. Maybe there’s a preparation routine that can set you up to perform. Sometimes it just helps to have someone analyse your matches and give you some simple tips. Knowing any of these details could be the key to help you unlock, on match days, the game you work so hard on developing.

At F8 we will test and benchmark you against others in your age group, grade, club (and in the future, against your past testing results) as well as against the best players in the game. We’ll do this against 8 core skills to give you a complete picture of your game and where you should be spending your time and focus to get the most out of your training efforts.

At F8 we’re going to change the way you look at your squash development. Elev8 your game with F8 Squash.

It’s been a successful few months for our Shaikhit Juniors.

Joanne is having a fantastic run. Taking out the u17 Oceania Junior Championship title in NZ late last year, she then travelled and competed in the Scottish and British Junior Opens where she competed strongly and had some great results.

Ketan also competed in the British Junior Open and won 3/6 of his matches which is an awesome achievement at one of the biggest and most competitive junior tournaments in the world.

Joanne has continued her strong streak on returning home and over the last week has become both the MCC u21 Champion and the Mountain District 2024 Women’s Open Champion (her first senior title). She’ll compete in both the Geelong and Carrara PSA events in the next few weeks where I’m sure she’ll continue her great form. These two results are a testament to the hard work she’s been putting in!!

Ketan and Jay also competed in the Mountain District Open, where Ketan finished a respectable 9th in Division 1 and Jay made the final in Division 6. Jay is one to watch - having just competed for Victoria in the Battle of the Border he’s motivated and training very hard at the moment.

Lastly, Will Scott will be competing in his first ever external squash tournament this weekend. He’ll play in the Junior Bronze event to be held at Squash Melbourne. Another one to watch, Will is a great little squashie who works hard at his game. Good luck Will!

We’re very lucky to have such a great group of players, all with awesome attitudes and who support each other as they go 🤜🏽🤛🏽

More updates to come 👀

Last week was the AJC in Brisbane and I got to watch and support our Shaikhit Juniors.

Couldn’t be prouder of how our players conducted themselves, playing with heart and grabbing the experience with both hands.

Joanne who started working with us about a year ago has been consistently putting in the hard work and her efforts are paying off. Finishing 2nd in the u17 girls event and coming away with the MC Hazel award for best female player of the tournament. A huge achievement. Well deserved Joanne.

Ketan stepped up in this tournament bettering his seeding and coming home in a respectable 12th place in the u15 boys. A popular player and for his first major event, couldn’t have asked for more. Every match he played showed improvement and the first thing he’s done with his spare time since arriving back in Melbourne is jump back on court and help out with our juniors at GPHC.

Jay had a great event. After coming up against the number 2 seed first round and putting up a good fight where he ultimately went down, he subsequently won all other matches (not dropping a game) coming in 9th in the u11 boys event. A quiet competitor, Jay is one to watch out for in the next few years.

Jenson had a strong start to the event and took out some big seeds to eventually finish 4th for the event which is a massive achievement. Jenson works as hard as any 10 year old I know and next year he’ll move up to the u13 boys where I know he’ll make a big impact.

All the players were great sports and made their supporters (and coach) proud.

To top it off Victoria won the teams event which hasn’t been done since 1989 and Joanne and Ketan played a big part of that.

Well done team 🤜🏽🤛🏽

Special congrats to Jenson for winning the u11 boys event, Joanne finishing runner up in the u17s & 3rd in the u19s girls event and Jay finishing 5th in the u11 boys. Unfortunately Ketan had to withdraw due to injury but he'll be back firing for the next one!

Well done to the GPHC players who competed in the Victorian Junior Championships over the weekend.

Ketan finished 4th in under 13 boys which is a great achievement coming off a shoulder injury where he taught himself to play with his opposite hand to keep his training up over the last few months.

Jenson and Jay made the under 11 final with Jenson winning in a great match that had plenty of spectators excited about the prospect of Victorian squash. At only 8 and 9 years old they’ll have many more battles to come!!

Well done all on a great event!😊

Stay fit for squash during Stage 3 restrictions.

Here's a FREE 5 week off court training program starting today to suit any age or fitness level.

Link to Free 5 Week Training Program: https://bit.ly/3fmC99g

If you have an okay starting base and no injuries, it’ll make sure you’ll be ready to go as soon as courts re-open. It would suit solo workouts as well as those lucky enough to have an approved training partner.

Seek guidance from you physio or doctor if you have any injuries or medical concerns and remember to follow all distancing guidelines when training.

If you have any questions, please get in touch.

Stay fit and safe!
