Congratulations to Hastings Champion Luke Hewitt on reaching 250 games of Senior football for the Hastings FNC
Luke just becomes the 5th player in Hastings 139 year History to achieve the milestone of 250 games
Following in the Footsteps of Club Legends
Peter Hibbert 342 games
Peter Cremen. 332 games
Richard Everist. 282 games
John Watson. 276 games

Luke was the 928th player to be selected in a Hastings Senior team
when he was selected while still playing under 18s in the Senior team to take on Somerville in 2009
From there Luke just started to become an integral part of the Hastings Senior team, his other milestone games were against
50th Game v Somerville in 2013
100th game v Dromana in 2016
150th Game v Langwarren in 2019
200th game v Pearcedale. In. 2023
And this Saturday he will run out for his 250th game against the
Seaford FNC at Seaford
Luke has had many memorial games in his career with the highlight being
The 2016 Premiership
Other games, included Kicking 5 goals in the last 1/4 against Crib Point and winning the game for Hastings in 2010
And in the last few seasons getting to play in the same side as his two Brothers Jake and Sean .
His worst moment was breaking his Leg and dislocating his ankle in 2017, and missing the rest of the season including finals.
But coming back in 2018 he had his biggest bag of goals when he kicked 8 against Crib Point .
The Club goal kicking record is 361 currently held by Peter Hibbert
Luke is on 360, and what a great it would be if Luke breaks the record in his 250th game.
Congratulations on a great career so far Luke and we look forward to the next 50 games.
Let’s see as many Hastings supporters at Seaford this Saturday to support Luke in his 250th game

Hastings FNC
Are saddened to hear of the passing of long time volunteer
Sheryl Lothian
Sheryl a great supporter of all the Clubs in Hastings, Senior and Junior Football Clubs, and Hastings Cricket Club.
She loved working in the canteens, and loved cooking the food
Sadly ill health had forced Sheryl into stepping down from volunteering for all the Clubs.
Sheryl started helping at Hastings when her boyfriend and future husband, Dennis Lothian was playing Football, Dennis was a two time Premiership player for Hastings.
Dennis was also a good cricketer so this also led Sheryl to start volunteering for the Cricket Club as well , where she received Life Membership for her tireless work
Sadly for Sheryl and Dennis their Daughter Leanne passed away when she was in Year 7, and then in 2018, She lost Dennis .
But through this sadness when She could ,she continued to help.
Sheryl’s connection to the Club continued with brother in laws Robert and Darryl Lothian, and Premiership player Stephen * Mouse ) Lewis .
Sheryl’s Grand daughter Teagan who worked at the Hastings Club and currently plays for Hastings/Balnarring women’s Football team, Sheryl’s other family members who had played at Hastings include Teagan father Stuart Bitters, Nephew Shelby Lothian, and Nephew and Premiership player Jay Austerberry.
It is these family connections that kept Sheryl working tirelessly for all Clubs, she loved helping out, even when unwell she would continue to try to help, Sheryl was a true supporter and volunteer at Hastings, and never asked for anything in return, the only questions She would ask was
“ can I help ?”
R.I.P Sheryl, a true Hastings Person
Sincere condolences to Vanessa, Denise and families

Hastings Star Forward Luke Hewitt is set to break the HFNCs 38 year old goal kicking record .
The record currently sits at 361 which is held by Hastings legend Peter Hibbert, Peter retired in 1988, so his record has stood for 38 years.
Luke is currently on 358 goals so only needs 3 to tie and 4 to break it.
This week Hastings take on Bonbeach at Bonbeach, and it would be great to see many Hastings supporters there, who hopefully get to see Luke break Peters long standing record.
It will be a fantastic achievement ,and will be great to see one of Hastings long standing records broken , so good luck Luke and hope you achieve the record this week

Hastings FNC saddened to hear of the passing of former player Brian (Lord )Lovatt
Brian first came to Hastings in 1977 to work at Westernport Timber which was owned by his father Frank.
Brian quickly established himself into the senior team .
Brian was an extremely fast player but unfortunately hamstring injuries caused him to miss many games , Brian was a member of the Senior teams 1979 Grand Final side.
Brian eventually retired from football at about 25 due to constant hamstring trouble , so he became the runner for the Senior Side Brian also joined the HFNC Committee and also the Hastings Club Committee.
Brian was a very loyal Club person and would always volunteer his service .and supported all the Clubs at Hastings
Football ,Cricket, Golf and Fishing Clubs
Brian was fantastic with all the young players coming from the under 18s always totally supportive always looked after them on the ground , and always would ensure the young blokes were mixing with the older players after the game or at functions , he was a great team mate to have
Brian was a very funny man with a fantastic sense of humor he certainly knew how to tell a story.
In 1978 the players put on an entertainment show, all players performed some form of comedy routine , the club was packed with supporters and Brian introduced Hastings to Dereck D Dwarf
Dereck was by far the highlight of the night and became one of two nicknames Brian would become known has , The other being Lord.
The Dereck character consisted of Brian sitting on a chair at Table another person sitting directly behind him, then Brian had a big coat on backwards and a blanket that covered the person behind , the person behind put his arms through the arms of the coat which then became Dereck’s hands, and they put a pair of shoes on Brian’s hands which became Derecks feet.
So when he was revealed to the audience it looked like there was this tiny Dwarf sitting on a table , then Dereck proceeds to show us how He ate food and drank beer and various other antics , to say it was the highlight of the night would be an understatement , Dereck came out a few times on football trips away and other events and eventually Brian showed some of the younger players how to bring Dereck to life , not sure there has ever been a funnier night at Hastings than the night Brian brought Dereck to Hastings
So R.I.P Brian your humor your stories are going to be missed ,and you will missed by all who knew and loved you.
Deepest sympathies to
Paula, Bree, Dean
And Family
