Even though I caught the dreaded doughnut on day two at the Basin, my day one bag was enough to get me into 20th place at the end of play. AOY placing for me this year was 24th. One better than last year and good enough to get me a place in the Australian Championship again. Can’t wait!

Day one down and very happy to be sitting in 8th place. Prefish was tough but I got a bit of a plan together and managed to get on to some good fish today. Lots of casting and a few hookups but only managed two for the bag. The two whiting i returned to the water may have bought me some karma.

It’s that time again! Off to the Basin.

Thanks to James at HWS for another Hobie Kayak. This time I was looking for a light weight and portable kayak to get me to some of my favourite Bass fishing spots. The inflatable itrek 11 looks like it’s going to be more than suitable.

How good do the custom painted lures by Fishing All The Gear No Idea look? Thanks Jamie.

Hobie Rnd 2 Camden Haven! Awesome weekend and a great start to my season with a 16th Place and some good AOY points. Being close to home allowed me to get a good feel for the place prior to the comp.
Day 1. I was straight on to good fish with surface lures but they were brutal in the oysters and promptly took my lures home with them. Losing three good fish by 8:30 had started to do my head in. It became a percentage game with lots of little fish competing for my lure, but I ground it out for what I thought would be a small bag that turned out to be reasonable for the day.
Day two I was aiming to not slip any further down the ladder so I decided to head to a spot that previously produced some good fish. On my way to spot “x” I got a just legal bag so I was pretty comfortable at 7:45.
Spot “x” looked good on the sounder but the current was strong so I nosed into the current for a half hour on the treadmill. First cast I got a good Bream for the bag and ten minutes later another. Shortly after that a little Soapy Jew had me thinking I had Big Bream. At this time a lovely gentleman in his boat saw me catching and decided to “spot lock” within 20 ft of me and “share” my spot. Biting my tongue I decided to head to Queens Lake🤯. I was pretty confident that I could grind out the day looking for the random good fish on the flats. Eventually I found my last upgrade and as the tide turned I slowly fished my way back to the launch site catching the occasional little Bream.
Big shout out to my sponsor Adam at “Dizzy Scent” and thank you to HWS, Manning River Marine and Harrington Bait and Tackle for keeping me stocked with the right gear.

Dizzy scent “Beast” on Zman was on the menu today and didn’t disappoint. Plenty of little lizards around and some reasonable Bream. Decided to keep a couple for a feed. I only eat them in the 40-55 range. No waste today with the frames going to the RAP and the leftovers for the pelicans.

I’m pretty much famous now! I really enjoy supporting the RAP when I take a fish for the table. Easy as dropping your filleted frame at Harrington Bait & Tackle and filling in a simple form. DPI will collect the data and send you a certificate of your catch details. Plus you may win a prize. 😀

Another “Reel it in” comp done. Tough conditions all weekend. Saturday I didn’t manage to land a decent Bream. Today started off well with a good fish on the second cast, then a long grind through Flathead and the occasional Bream. After 10 hours an ok bag of 4.
