**Weekly Wrap – When Cricket Meets the Weather Gods**
Finals cricket is meant to be dramatic… but this week the cricket gods and the weather gods teamed up to make things extra interesting.
**Fourth Grade** kicked things off on Monday night. The lads turned up ready for battle, eyeing off a pitch that was drier than a biscuit left out in the sun. Spirits were high, the coin went up for the toss… and just before 4:30pm the weather gods decided they hadn’t been included in the game plan. Down came the rain.
Unfortunately, with finals rules being what they are, the team higher on the ladder progresses when the weather wins. That meant Coro moved on while our boys were left wondering if someone had accidentally washed the pitch.
**Third Grade** took to the field last night for their second round of finals against Exies. After losing the toss, the boys were sent into the field against some serious run-scorers. The team worked hard and gave it a real crack, but chasing the target proved a bit like trying to catch a six that’s already halfway to the car park.
While the results didn’t quite go our way this finals series, there’s a lot to be proud of. Every player has put in a huge effort throughout the season, and the commitment from the group has been outstanding.
Cricket can be a funny old game. Some days everything clicks and you look like world beaters… other days the ball finds every fielder, the rain turns up uninvited, and the scoreboard refuses to cooperate.
But heads up everyone — seasons like this build the foundation. We dust ourselves off, keep the banter flowing, and start working towards flipping the script next year.
Because if cricket has taught us anything… it’s that next season is always just one good innings away. 🏏
