The club’s first championship- the Major/Minor pairs was played out to the final on Sunday with the final to be played next Sunday at 1.00 P.M. Russell Sherren and Jim Brody will face off against Jenny Pole and Michael Holcombe in what promises to be a great event. Come and support the event.

Twenty six players in teams of three or four joined in social bowls on Thursday with each team having eight bowls. Neville Linker skipped Rob Baker and John Crane to win the day with three wins . Peter Moller. Edwin Maclean and Dianne Brody had two wins and a draw to finish second. After struggling with persistent rain on Saturday a small group of bowlers gave up and went home to watch the Sydney Swans.

This Tuesday a new innovation will be introduced to improve people drawing skills – Entry is $5. It’s a lot of fun and highly competitive.

Entries close for the State Triples this week with the event to be played at Memorial commencing Saturday 19th.

hursday’s social bowls this week had several highlights. Firstly torrential rain caused the last game to be cancelled. secondly a brand new bowler nearly won the day, well done to James Quinn who teamed with Andrew Brown to win their two games and finally a stunning performance by Rob Baker who teamed with Jack Waldron to win the day. Second, close behind were the combination of Norm Pech and Alan Roll.

On Saturday 24 bowlers took to the greens to play three games with Jenny Pole, John Mitchell and Kevin Buck proving too good for the opposition, winning their three games. The ever reliable Norm Pech led Kevin Manson and Anne Gough to second p-lace.

This Saturday is the official opening of the new season. Members are asked to wear club uniform and bring a plate of afternoon tea

This week the club’s Honour Boards were updated with last year’s championship winners recorded to be part of the club’s history – some boards recording over 50 years of club champions.

And finally Alison East has done it again, playing for Victoria in a test match and coming home with a medal.
