Hahndorf Bowling Club visit to Waikerie
Last weekend the Hahndorf Bowling Club visited the Waikerie Bowling Club as part of the annual reciprocal visits between the clubs.
Chief coordinator of the two-day visit and competition, Wayne Burris, said the interaction between the Clubs has been going for four years now and is growing in popularity for members of both clubs. Twenty-two players from Hahndorf were joined by the same number of Waikerie bowlers for the two days.
He said bowlers this year enjoyed a very social competition playing three bowl triples on Friday and a fours competition on Saturday.
Wayne said the two clubs came together soon after he arrived in Waikerie about six years ago. Being an accredited bowls coach he was asked to coach a number of ladies from the Hills Club and they travelled to Waikerie for several consecutive weekends of training.
Since then Wayne and his counterpart Val Deeble at the Hahndorf Bowling Club have organized reciprocal annual visits and this year it was Waikerie’s turn to host.
“Apart from the great camaraderie and friendships made, the visits are a boost to the local economy with travellers staying at local accommodation and visiting Waikerie shops,” said Wayne.
The Waikerie Hotel was the venue for a combined dinner on Saturday night where Hahndorf Bowling Club president, Geoff Deeble said they are looking forward to hosting the Waikerie bowlers next year and continuing the friendships of players.

Our Hahndorf bowlers had a great weekend hosted by Waikerie Bowling Club.

There were 17 who actively participated in the 2-day annual event with two others representing our cheer squad.

We look forward to some more fun and laughs at dinner tonight at the Waikerie hotel.

We thank WBC for their generosity and turning on the sunshine making it very pleasant.
