Statement on behalf of the Marin Family

It is with a very heavy heart that the choice must be made to make the events pertaining to current circumstances public in nature, yet it has now become necessary to do so, given the events that have unfolded as of the week gone.
Firstly, it is necessary to state that quite literally any individual can make use of a social media platform to write whatever gratuitous, self-aggrandizing, self-altruistic narrative riddled with self-victimisation and poignant blame of another party (our family). However, this does not alter facts, and it remains what is and always has been. A Narrative.
Our family is greatly saddened and disillusioned by a statement made over a week ago, making false accusations of gross moral conduct and outright fraud. Now without mistake, it is a very well-written statement, to which any reasonable person would be horrified by what the protagonist of the essay claims to have occurred, but this aforementioned letter posted on a public forum grossly alters the facts of the matter, and in many cases, poses outright lies.
A friendship to which had dated back now nearly 30 years between a certain family and our own recently, as so eloquently put- ‘soured’. This friendship has seen many exchanges of horses on both ends, many of which were given to our family for the purpose to be sold. For example, a pony owned by the othered party at the end of 2018/early 2019, given that all professional stables contacted by the owner- a member of this family, refused to take on the pony at the time; thus meaning we campaigned and sold the pony on their behalf at no cost to the owner, with all of the proceeds of the sale being passed on to said owner; after having the pony for a period of 6 months. This is relevant for context, given the nature of the relationship between the two families, as well as demonstrating that we have always sought to do the right thing by the alleged party. All invoices, receipts, and payment histories will prove this to be true. The same exact situation occurred with a hack that was sold under the very same arrangement on their behalf by us at the beginning of 2020 for a substantial sum of money.
Our family was fortunate enough to be ‘unofficially’ leased a hack at the very beginning of 2019 by this party, to which the written terms of the lease were that of an unlimited time period until the horse was to be retired. These terms are in writing, in text messages, and even implied, alluded to, or outrightly stated in posts made on social media by both involved parties- most importantly, the owner. There is a plethora of physical and digital evidence to prove that this was the case. Once again, as mentioned previously, the friendship between the two parties came to an end due to a barrage of attacking messages sent by the involved party to members of our family; this is an indisputable fact, as there is once again objective evidence of these conversations occurring. These messages thus saw the demand for the return of the horse by method of threat (of which again, evidence) by which breaks the original terms of the agreement.
Now to be somewhat candid, this has become a rock and a hard place. Our family has not sought to do wrong by the alleged family, however, the abhorrent, capacious, and frankly, blunt nature by which this all unfolded has shocked our family, as the said horse has come to be, without a doubt, a member of our family to which we did not nearly expect to have to part with so soon due to the agreed terms. After many conversations, which many occurred over the phone, and were abusive in nature on the end of the other party to which we have attempted to reason and negotiate, the circumstances have not altered. While the plan was and has always been for the horse to retire with his Dam’s owner (which the opposing party explicitly states to be the case in their own, otherwise false statement), the amount of time between now and this occurring has been circumvented, now occurring much sooner than what we would have liked or planned. This is, without a doubt, and for a lack of a better term of phrase- heartbreaking for our family. The horse will retire at the conclusion of the following year dating from this statement (the 2023 annum), into the care of the Dam’s owner provided circumstances remain. This meeting the original demands of the horse's owner in the early communications made as part of the aforementioned barrage. This is something we did not wish to be made public, however as circumstances have unfolded, our hand has been forced, by which has been an incredibly difficult decision to make- which to reaffirm, has been forced upon us. This is all in writing.
While our family is technically well within its legal rights to demand the horse stay with us until the agreed time is fulfilled, a long battle made dirty by weaponizing personal circumstances against us is far from desirable, thus the above conclusion has been reached, not without a great deal of heartache. As for the other two horses mentioned in the statement, one is the property of our family and our family alone- all written agreements, conversations, financial records, and the like will state as such, and the other was originally a fifty/fifty split until the alleged parties’ half was bought out by our family after colic surgery, amounting to the cost of $16000 approximately. All records again will suggest such to be the case. However, it is the intention of our family that if or when either of the two mares ever sold, money would still be passed on to the original owner in a fifty-fifty split.
In summation, the purpose of this stament is not to attack any of the parties involved, it is simply to set the record straight, meaning that the purposefully circulated misinformation that has come at the expense of our family can come to an end. We wish nothing but the best for the health and well-being of the alleged opposing party as a family - but this subjective storytelling must be put to an end, and we hope that this will put to rest any uncertainty regarding what has occurred here.

Absolutely no one person, family, or group should have to go through what our family has—and we are not alone; several individuals have come forward having claimed similar experiences with the very same party.
This is the final time we will make comment on this situation as it has taken a great toll on our family, and we now must grieve the losses involved.
