Hi yogis, it’s been over a year since this sentimental photo was taken, the night I taught my last public community class to the amazing group of Haberfield yogis prior to my move to the Sydney’s north. Whilst I’ve been enjoying my work at the hospital teaching therapeutic style of yoga, I have missed the magical small community class I’ve spent years building up. So when Paula asked me to fill in for her, I said YES!
So for this Monday only, I’ll be coming back and seriously I cannot wait to see the regular yogis and hopefully some new ones too. So if you would like to treat yourself to 60 min of breathers and yoga followed by 30 min minis sound bath, please let me know. To book, please message me on 0418398959 as spots are limited.

It felt so good to be back teaching at the hospital this week after my summer break. Going back to the office and dragging the kids to school felt a bit uneasy and stressful, but coming to the hospital to teach felt effortless, joyful and incredibly rewarding. The thing with teaching patients with complex physical and mental health issues is that in most cases they don’t even want to be in the class to begin with. They come because the nurse or the doctor has told them to try yoga. In the desperation they sometime do. The amazing thing is to watch their change of attitude towards the end of the class, well in most cases anyway. Sometimes they leave after 5 min, too. We do about 40 min of conscious movement and breathwork followed by 20 min of guided meditation accompanied by sound healing ( picture below). More often than not they tap into the nurturing inner layers of themselves, layers long forgotten. Layers that offer them temporary respite from their outer world filled with physical and emotional pain. I know this because they are alway so eager to tell me afterwards, often declaring that they will start practicing yoga upon discharge from hospital. I certainly hope so.

Occasionally, I’m asked how I manage to practice yoga as a working mother of three children. The response is straightforward: it’s not effortless. As mothers, we’re inclined to prioritize others’ needs over our own. Do I enjoy a daily one-hour yoga session? I wish, but realistically, I feel fortunate if I can attend a weekly yoga class. Most of my daily yoga practice consists of brief 10-15 minute sessions squeezed into my hectic schedule, often requiring creative timing. Ideally, I’d practice before everyone wakes up, but unexpected events often disrupt my plans. For instance, today, while on holiday in Queensland visiting family, I’ve had to adapt; I managed a 20-minute yoga session on a beach log while my children built sandcastles and temporarily ceased arguing over a pink spade and bucket.

Happy New Year, yogis! As 2026 unfolds into a new chapter for LeMar yoga, I'm filled with gratitude for the transformation of 2025.

After years of guiding my dedicated Haberfield group, I've passed on the reins of my Monday evening yoga and sound class to the talented Paula back in March.
My initial vision to cultivate a community in Beecroft remains on my ‘to-do- list’, but for now, I'm deeply invested in continuing to bring therapeutic yoga, pranayama, guided meditation, and sound healing to those who need it most at a local hospital. Witnessing positive impacts on patients and receiving heartfelt feedback from nurses has been profoundly rewarding, and Irene and I are thrilled with the progress over the past year.
Though my schedule is full, I'm eager to nurture my community initiatives and will keep you informed of any developments

The one thing I love more than teaching yoga is learning and exploring it as a student. Aerial yoga with its powerful sling prop has become my latest yoga style obsession, superseding the controversial and hot Bikram I practiced in winter.

The winter solstice and International Yoga Day coincided this weekend, making it a special time for me. As yoga has had a profound impact on my life, I feel grateful to celebrate it. In Sydney, I attended and expanded my knowledge through talks on yogic philosophy, mental health and Ayurveda. I also participated in various yoga sessions, including meditation and breathwork. With my family, we enjoyed a fun yoga session at home. The winter solstice represents a shift from darkness to light, reflecting the transformative power of yoga in my own life.
