Two boats out this morning for almost 13ks around Point Wolstonecroft. Sightings included some stingrays and an huge eagle! Perfect morning, we made it back to shore before the heat set in. Welcome to newbie Brenda and hats off to Debbie and Nicola for some almost straight steering 😉🤩 How lucky are we to live here! 🛶🛶

Today we took out some fledgling paddlers who were taking part in Gwando Games, a program of free activities for kids aged 8-11 in Gwandalan, right here on Lake Macquarie. We reckon we might have enough new recruits for a junior team! Fantastic morning for everyone 🛶🛶💦☀️☀️

Twas a calm day in Gwandalan, no snow to be seen,
But paddlers appeared in red hats of festive sheen.
With the outriggers
afloat and much cheer on display, one in his pijays but it is Christmas hey!
They splashed into Christmas the Aussie bush way.

No reindeer, no sleighs, just paddles and mates,
Some graceful, some wobbly, defying all fates.
So raise up a cheer for this sun-burnt band,
The Gwandalan paddlers — festive, fearless, and just slightly damp.
Merry Christmas!!

A beautiful day out on the lake today. The water was crystal clear and very calm.
We then came back to shore and did a Huli drill. This is where we capsize the boat intentionally and work together to right the boat and get back to shore. Teamwork is the key and the drill was a success. Well done everyone!!
