It is with profound sadness Gunnedah Bowling Club wishes to inform our members of the unexpected and sudden passing of Rocky Morgan. Rocky was a hugely popular member of our club and he will be greatly missed. Everyone who played with or against Rocky recognised his wonderful ability and outstanding sportsmanship. Rocky was a hugely positive personality and he actively encouraged everyone to play to the best of their ability. Rocky had a fantastic sense of humour and always had a smile on his face. Our club will not be the same without our little mate. Gunnedah Bowling Club offers our sincere and deepest condolences to the family and friends of Rocky Morgan. RIP Rocky

Gunnedah Bowling Club is celebrating their first NSW State Pennant win in twenty years after winning the Division 4 Pennant in Nowra on the weekend. The team started with a solid win over Dapto Citizens 64 shots to 48. In their second match they defeated Water Board 62 to 51. In their final sectional match Moruya proved far too strong winning 71 to 38 but Keith Hubbard's rink secured a draw to give the team enough points to finish top of the section and qualify for the knock out stage. In the quarter final against Willoughby Park the team led for most of the match only to fall behind with two ends to play. The team played some brilliant bowls to secure 6 shots and
secure the win and a spot in the semi finals 58 to 54 giving the team a chance to avenge their sectional loss to Moruya. Gunnedah got off to flyer against Moruya in the semi final racing to a big lead in the opening stages of the match and were never under pressure as they won a high scoring semi 82 shots to 60.The final saw the team on the back foot as Glenbrook started strongly racing to a big early lead. Gunnedah fought back strongly and slowly but surely they started to dominate the match and by the three quarter stage had established a narrow lead. With the win in sight the team had to withstand massive pressure from the Glenbrook team. In fading light and freezing conditions the team hung on to secure a famous victory 60 to 56. There were emotional scenes on the green as the team of Keith Hubbard, Brett Green, Buck Fordham, Barry Robbins, Caleb Cameron, Mark Boyd, Freddy Pryor, Andrew Cameron, Jacob Martin, Brodie Towns, Wayne Hosking and John Clark celebrated the first State flag. The win would not have been possible without the wonderful support from our fantastic cheer squad. Rhonda Fordham, Bruce and Dee Cameron, Lea Martin, Lilly Friend, Travis Beasley, Te-Arna Vernon and Leanne Pryor. Thanks so much for sticking with us. Also a big thank you to Owen Walker and the board of Club Gunnedah for your support, we appreciate it greatly.
