Irwin flat track racing had the pleasure of attending the Ride park day held at Taree motorcycle club last Sunday. This was the first ride park day Taree has held since it closed 5 years ago and to say it was a blast is an understament. While Taree has a lot of work ahead of them to track the track back to full race ready it as great to see the amount of support they have. We will definitely be back for more practice and racing when this fabulous track is reopened. While this was the first time any of the team has been on the old bar circuit it won’t be the last. Thanks to the club for having us

So the race season has started and the first offical hit out for the year was round one at Tamworth. Hope Irwin and Blake Irwin both rode well. Hope competed In The open women’s running mid pack all night and what a pack it has 10 open women’s was great to watch, she also competed in the pro 250 class and the bushy class where hope had an amazing ride to bring home 7th in the final. Blake rode in the mx open and the pro 250 class where our mechanic (Dad) just could not get the setup right and we struggled on the dirt to finish behind his sister for the first time in a long time on the 250 and at the rear of the pack for the mx open. Sunday however was a much better day for Blake at Gunnedah MCC for round one where he placed first in the pro 250. But still struggled with the 450. Hope rode in the open women’s, the pro 250 and she got to race the newest racer of the irwin flat track team dad in the C grade while hope rode beautifully dad has a lot to learn but had fun and he made improvements with each race. Rikki Dean Irwin rode in two classes for his first race in very long time the c grade and the over 35’s while he is not as confident or as competitive as the younger riders in the team he stay had a blast walking away with fourth over all for the over 35’s due to kel Kelly having a bike failure. We would like to thank both clubs as well as all the volunteers that helped out both days. And we look forward to a wonderful season. Next up is a ride park day at Taree Motorcycle Club Inc. followed by round one at Kempsey’s Macleay District Motor Cycle Club Inc for their first round on the 29/03/26. Hope to see you all out there. And on a special note thank you to Elizabeth Irwin for all the driving you do to get us to our races and for supporting the old fella in his first race.

Irwin flat track racing was at it’s home track Gunnedah MCC this weekend gone for round three of the club championship. The weather was wonderful, the racing was tight and fast. Our newest rider Kiara-may Mckay riding in her second full race meet made vast improvements. Kiara raced in the open women’s class. While she has a long way to go she improved with each race. race one seen Kiara lapped by the entire field before the finish, by the final race Kiara only got lapped by the first place getter. Hope Irwin rode wonderful all day and you can see her confidence coming back as she is now fighting for fifth position in the open women’s class after some very tight battles with Rheggie Jaeger. She also placed 10th in the c grade class and fourth in pro 250 class. Blake Irwin had an awesome weekend riding in the MX open, the 19inch class and the pro 250 class after a couple of tweaks to the 450 thanks to Dale Anderson from DAS suspension Blake made the finals of the MX Open while he still has a long ways to the front of the pack he is now in the top 12. The 19inch class was fought hard with Cooper Dune taking out the top step Lachie Adamson taking second and Blake taking third for the day. The pro 250 class was another that could have gone anyway as the top three riders Max Kelly, Katarna Robinson and Blake could have had a blanket thrown over them all day. Max taking out first Katarna second and Blake third. We would like to thank all our sponsors Omega Moto Graphics. Beard Brothers Motorcycles. All the supporter that come out and watch today as well as all those who follow us on our socials. Thank you to the club and the committee for all the hard work they do behind the scenes. Our next race dates will be the 8th June Hunter MCC for their round 2 on the dirt. This will be the first time on the dirt this year. And a big thank you to mum Elizabeth Irwin for coming out during work to help with the bikes and take videos and photos also a big thanks and good to see you again to Nik. This weekend Irwin FlatTrack Racing team made their way to Temora to compete in Rounds 1 and 2 of the Temora Motorcycle Club Championship,
Saturday we competed on the dirt track being a track that we have only ridden once, Saturday went quite well despite one heart attack moment, Hope Irwin contested the Open Women’s, Clubmen and Pro 250s and Blake Irwin contested the Clubmen, Mx Open and Pro 250, Hope walked away with 2nd in the Open Women’s which was the teams only podium on Saturday despite some hard work and close battles. unfortunately Blake’s 450 had a leaking tube Saturday afternoon that was replaced thanks to Ashley Wilesmith giving us a tube.

Sunday was definitely a little more intense with both racers contesting the same classes as Saturday but on the TT track, again another day of learning and testing some things many of the classes were really fun and really close, the podiums for Sunday were Hope 2nd Open Women’s, Hope 2nd Pro 250 and Blake 3rd pro 250. Although there was some hard races and fights on the track which were unfortunately interrupted by Blake’s 250 suffering a flat tire minutes from the final 250 race which caused him to receive a DNS (did not start) and not receive any points that race placing him third.
We as a team would like to thank Elizabeth Irwin for all the travelling she does driving the bikes where they need to go, Rikki Dean Irwin for all the work he does on the bikes Ashley Wilesmith once again for the tube that got the 450 back up for Sunday and hope would like to thanks Dirt Track Girls for the support.
As well as our sponsors Beard Brothers Motorcycles, Dusty Diamonds Clothing, Omega Moto Graphics and DAS suspension for tuning the suspension on Blake’s bike,
we would also like to thank Temora Motorcycle Club for an amazing event it is definitely worth the travel for such an amazing club and track we are definitely keen for the final round of the championship.

Irwin flat track racing team will contest Round 3 of the Gunnedah Motorcycle Club Championship on the 1st of June we would love to see anyone who can make it.

This weekend Irwin FlatTrack Racing made their way to their home track to compete in round one of the Gunnedah motorcycle club championship after cyclone Alfred caused the railway hotel cup to be postponed fearing the rain, but the club made the best of the weekend and ran round one instead while it was definitely not the start to the season we had hoped for having both Keek Mckay and Blake Irwin crash during the round while Kiara is now unfortunately out for a bit suffering a significant injury to her left hand Blake is ok other than a twisted ankle after super manning from his bike. Hope Irwin contested the pro open women’s, pro 250 and c grade, Blake contested the mx open, pro 250 and 19’ and Kiara had planned to contest the pro open women’s and the c grade but unfortunately could not due to her injuries. once again not the best start to the season but hopefully we can have some better luck next time, Irwin Flat Track Team would like to thank Rikki Dean Irwin for all the work he does on the bikes, Elizabeth Irwin for all the driving that she does Gunnedah MCC for another amazing event and all the people that helped out from flaggies, officials, track prep team, canteen people and everyone who helps out to make these events possible a few personal thank you’s, Hope would like to thank Greg Kelly for the new gloves, Blake would like to thank Dale Anderson from DAS suspension for the new suspension set up and working with me over the weekend to tune it and Kiara would like to thank everyone that helped her off the track after the incident and the lovely nurses and staff from Gunnedah hospital we would all also like to thank our sponsors Omega Moto Graphics, Beard Brothers Motorcycles and Dusty Diamonds Clothing and everyone for all the amazing support

UPDATE - Dirt Track Championships 22nd/23rd March

Hey Crew! We hope all our members have stayed safe and dry over the last few days.

We have been receiving alot of questions over the last couple of days about our event due to run on 22nd and 23rd March.
In short we don't have an answer for you right now, but will provide a definite answer by Wednesday this week (12th March) if the event will go ahead or will be postponed.
We know alot of you are travelling and making arrangements so we are trying our best to make this call as quickly as possible.
Right now the only thing the track is suitable for is jetski racing, so we are hoping that if the rain stops, the water will start to subside. We will then assess the track for safety and any repairs that will need to be completed.
We thank you for your ongoing understanding.
