We are reaching out to keep you updated on the current plan around coaching, the centre is working away at ensuring we have our systems and personnel in place to commence training late September/early October.
As communicated early last week, there are a number of reasons for the delay between the commencement of the season and the start of training, this is in part due to the organisation and availability of coaches, ensuring athletes are registered (therefore insured), and allowing families and committee members the opportunity to navigate the begining of the season.
Right now, we want to establish a core group of coaches and are accepting expressions of interest, via the form which you will find the link for in the comments.
Whilst desirable, a coaching qualification is not mandatory, however, we want to ensure all aspiring coaches are given a pathway to qualification and the centre will reimburse the cost of a Level 1 coaching course for those who undertake it and become active in the centre's Monday and Wednesday training.
The course options are unfortunately limited but can be found at https://members.athsvic.org.au/events/list/ the centre is currently trying to seek additional courses, whilst it may not eventuate, we will do what we can in this space.
We also recognise that getting into coaching may feel a little daunting at first, even if you've completed a course.
That's a completely natural feeling, and we'll do our best to help by having our more experienced coaches provide guidance and support wherever possible.
If more information is required or if you have any questions, please reach out to the centre at [email protected]
